Forums - Gaming - Lenovo begins development on eBox

In an move that will either come off as inflammatory or just outright foolish, perennial business machine manufacturer Lenovo has announced that they will be jumping on the video game console bandwagon.

According to Smartmoney, it was revealed Friday by Lenovo spokesperson, Jay Chen that the company has established a company going by the moniker Beijing eedoo Technology Ltd. and will begin development of entertainment console eBox. While initially developed in-house at Lenovo, Chen went on to say, "We saw game consoles as an area with growth potential," he said. The company assembled a team to create a console prototype, then split it off as a separate company earlier this month."

The latest prototypes of the console are said to allow gamers to interact with their console in the same way Microsoft's Kinect will allow for when it releases this November, which already creates a slew of marketplace redundencies in regards to this proposed in-development product.

Personally, I think Lenovo should stick to business computers and leave video games to the people who know them lest they become another 3DO or CD-i, but then again, that's what everyone said about Microsoft pre-Xbox.
