Wow, you people didn't read this.
They never said it was not possible. They only said that a solution with glasses is the best option at the moment. The new 3D TV from Toshiba will most liekly have some disadvantages like the angle or the resolution. Sony also said that for small TV's it's ok.

Who gives a damn about the extent of their hipocrasy. Fact is, Sony pretended like glassesless TVs were a non-entity just so they could sell their shitty glasses-TVs. I don't know who would ever buy a glasses requiring 3DTV now, lol? Nobody should, and nobody ever should have. The technology was obsolete before it was popular, see laser disc.
Sony's epic fail is the fact that they pushed 3D so, so hard, but got it wrong, and Nintendo made it popular, and will make most of the big money off of it, as will Toshiba, and Samsung. Not Sony though.
Plus, they bash glassesless 3D all the time. It's because they WISH it wasn't possible, so they could keep selling us the obsolete shit that nobody wants anyway. Who wants to wear glasses to watch TV? No, that won't get old in 15 minutes. Sheesh.

Who cares what Sony said? They'll obviously lie to get you to buy their obsolete products, while behind the scenes, hurridly working on something to help them catch up with the competition. No better example than this. Sony was doom and gloom on glassesless until they announced one of their own.

(1) When did they do this? And in regards to making money off it, you seem to ignore Sony's many fingers in the many 3D pies (movie cameras, cinema projectors, movies, 3D players, TV's, blu-ray discs etc)
(2) links?

lol...easy man, youll pop a blood vessel.
While we are all sitting here patiently to see what Toshiba has to offer (could be good or not so good) I don't think glasses 3D is going to go away...I mean, 3D with glasses been around since mid 90s on the PC...and I guarantee you that it will still have advantages over Toshiba's non-glasses solution.
As far as Sony, they are in their own bubble of shit at this point. The pretended to be the creators of everything 3D entertainemnt wise and in the media while all they were is late to the game(samsung, texas instruments and Nvidia beat them to the punch by 2-3 years), so they look foolish now. And they screwed themselves big time... because they locked out all prior 3D technology with their TVs and PS3 and now are left alone to support the PS3 3D platform and sell you TV's which the competition is selling for cheaper with better results. PC gamers got MAfia 2 3D certified this week, last week Trine(year old game) was also 3D certified with an update. Both of these games are available on PS3, but devs are not going to bother making them 3D.
Because they locked out all of the 3D displays without HDMI 1.4, such as 3D projectors and 3D monitors...it costs roughly the same to buy a 3D TV and ps3 as it does to buy a gaming PC, 3D display for it and 3D vision.
I'll be making a post one of these days about how one who is looking to a 3D gaming set up at home should spend 2000 dollars and get the best bang for their buck.
| superchunk said: That's because their first PR slam was really against the 3DS and Nintendo, not 3D tech as a whole. Another example of right hand (playstation guys) not knowing what left hand (tv guys) is doing. |
Would it be considered cheating if you used your left hand?
It would certainly feel different, right?
"Daily Finance states that Toshiba’s 3D TVs will cost about $1200. This price is pretty much the same as someone seeking an inexpensive 45 inch TV. Apparently each set of 3D glasses is also very expensive/ 3D glasses are estimated to be at least $130. Toshiba’s new 3D technology would eliminate all that extra cost."
Also:
'Vindy reports that Toshiba’s spokeswoman issued a statement which partially read, “Many people don’t like to wear glasses to watch TV for a long time, especially people who wear glasses.” That statement in itself is truly simple and honest. Consumers do not like to be burdened with the excesses of life. A 3D TV for users to use without glasses is truly innovative and necessary in this day and age of excesses.
LOL, I'm an excess. Glasses free 3D for me, per favore.
Sony does it again... Nah, they didnt say it was impossible, but it is not impossible either, that they were just waiting for someone to do it first...
