People saying 3D is D000000000000MED because some crappy movies don't do well is silly or a niche movie doesn't become a multi million blockbuster.
3D can't save a crap movie or a niche one.

"Less than five percent of the population have severe visual disabilities which make seeing in 3D difficult or impossible. This group includes those who have lost an eye or very few of those with medical diagnoses of amblyopia (lazy eye) or strabismus (eye turns -- "crossed eyes" or "wandering eyes"). In MOST cases, two-eyed vision (binocular vision) can be improved with supervised vision therapy."
This is from what you posted. I didnt thought of those (amblyopia and stabismus) because they dont necessarily restrict from seeing 3D, but yes they can, so I guess you are right on that point. It means we are looking at less than 5% total of the population, some of them watching 3D being difficult not impossible.
I posted th enumbers in a prior thread. 3D percent of gross has steadily gone up and generally hovers around 50-60% of total gross for a studio.
If youre interested check out boxofficemojo.com's weekend summery as they generally will announce the total % from 3D.
Shit movies are shit, its beyond stupid to point to piranha 3d or step up 3d as reasons why 3d is failing.
Seriously, if you really are interested in how 3D is being accepted check out those weekly summeris. Its alot of work to copy and past or go through each one but open a tab with a list of 3d movies released, open another with boxofficemojo.com and search each movies openeing weekend summery.
You can even go back as far as Coraline and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs to see how its been accepted.
3D is legit and here to stay. If people didnt like it similar animated genres would not see steady and increasing marketshare after 2 years as people would be opting out of the 3D offering, yet they keep coming back.....for obvious reasons.
