I really don't get why it's being re-released with a whole 9 minutes of new footage......

Is "money" a good enough reason? ;)

Well yea but I mean, they could've put that on the DVD instead :|

Except that this way they get a second theatrical run, then a second DVD/BR release with the new footage. More money and more markets to make the money in.

Thank god. Just when I thought that Avatar was going to flop at the box office. x.o Oh well, at least it's a good non-cartoon movie that has 3D (giving an evil glare to Clash of the Titans).

but Avatar has much more computer animation than CotT, hell about 90% of avatar was CGI, every tree all the Navi all the mechs and ships etc all of it. But of coarse you mean it has a silly story and hammy cheese filled acting but who cares about that...

Trying to hit the 3 Billion mark eh? Getting greedy I think.

I honestly can't see why people treat Avatar like a gift from the heavens. I found it to be an average movie, with no major flaws, but no major "OMIGOSH WOW!"-moments either. Maybe that's because I didn't watch it in 3D, and in actuality, I haven't watched any movies in 3D. (I lack the time to go into theaters, and the money to buy a 3D TV.)

Avatars was OK watched in both 2D and 3D cannot say 3D made that much of a difference thought so at the time seeing it in 2D just reinforced that. I cannot say any of the films I see have really benefited from 3D the trouble is you either just make a film with 3D or you make a film for 3D. I prefer the film is made with 3D rather than for it.

Having said that my local Cinema does recently released movies for the Kids club for a fraction of the normal ticket. I really wish they would do this for the Adults too. I would watch Avatar then even minus the 9 minutes and guess what just make it the 2D version. I really do not want the "directors choice" pap just the good stuff a few months later in the Cinema again but at half the price.

this is sad,its a mediocre film which was only so well received because it was in 3d and this just seems like a desperate ploy to get even more money.

If shit like Transformers 2 can make a billion dollars worldwide, avatar deserves 10 billion at the box office... I honestly can't think of a better popcorn movie I've seen in the last 5 years.

Transformers 2 only got that amount of money cos there Megan Fox in it,but yeah i see your point.Personally i think Inception should be way higher in the grossing, but then again,a lot of people wouldn't understand it.

You could replace Megan fox with any hottie and Transformers 2 would have packed them in... Face it, people like the big loud dumb action filled popcorn movies. And as far as those movies, Avatar is one of the best in a long time.

I want to go see it again. It's such a great experiance in 3D! :3

transformers 2 didn't make a billion dollars and Nikaj didn't even mention

Avatar was so not a blockbuster that it was hyped to be

Transformers 2 made

Worldwide:  $836,297,228

And the movie is utter shit.

I just used it as an example of what kind of movies make the big bucks.

Here is all time highest grossing films (not adjusted for inflation) http://boxofficemojo.com/alltime/world/

I don't see many movies that are more fun to watch than Avatar in the top 20...do you?
