So, never used Steam. Does this mean I MUST have a steam account and monthly membership to get this game? or am I mistaking this with some other PC game tool thing.

You need steam but steam and an account is free no monthly fees or anything just buy the game download and then you can pretty much play as much as you want as long as steam is running, usually after the first time you can even play off line.

OT I really feel like getting this new worms game it looks fun.
