MCV jumped the gun completely on this shit.  Voice control for non-english languages is what will not be available at launch.

Which is simply not acceptable at all... This feature should be ready for every market

Well seeing as most likely 3/4 of Xbox users speak English it is very acceptable.

Yeah, fuck the rest of the world, as long as the majority get what they want, the minority doesn't matter at all.

OT: That's pretty good news, though I still think they should postpone the launch. They have some bugs they can work out and they could probably have a larger launch if it wasn't releasing alongside heaps of games and other hardware.

Like Netflix?  Last.fm?  ESPN?

There is lots of stuff that is only available to a portion of the Xbox userbase.

How about games released only in Japan?  Do you think companies shouldn't be allowed to release those until they are localized into every other countries language and released worldwide?

Ummm, Kinect is a piece of hardware. The whole voice command thing is one of it's main selling points. It's like if PS3's in Japan had PSN, but PS3's in Australia didn't. If your going to release something, then your better off waiting until everything's sorted out and every customer can start on an equal footing.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

Not true Kinect is hardware and software without hardware the software does not work and vice versa. The hardware is unlikely to be affected so the logical conclusion is software. Languages are often rolled out after the fact for many products and at some point they decide what languages they will support on release and what languages they will support later and finally what languages they will likely never support.

Kinect as seen by PS3 owners ...if you can pick at it   ...post it ... Did I mention the 360 was black and Shinny? Keeping Sigs obscure since 2007, Passed by the Sig police 5July10.

So, it's been demoed in Germain ? In Spanish ? In French ?... I'm thinking that it will not be available at launch for EMAA languages (except english of course)

I would love to think you actually did care but I seriously doubt you are even considering purchasing a Kinect system even one with 1 million languages. Lets just wait and see how this pans out we do not know which languages are affected. I think it is pretty obvious not all languages will be supported on release. Hopefully Spanish, French and German will be supported. EMEA is big with lots of languages.

Europe

Middle East

Asia

I bet you do not even know the languages that are encompassed by that entire region, pretty sure I do not without looking it up.

Didn't said I knew everything about kinect languages, did I ?

If Kinect doesn't support my native language (which is not english) than, no, that's one reason to not be interested by it.

Or it would be if you did not already speak english and you actually had any intention of buying the product. I believe they have done European demonstrations of Kinect and are currently in Belgium which as we know is a mixture of languages one being French.

Also we should seperate what languages maybe supported in a Game and what will be supported by the Xbox system.

I am actually Welsh and can pretty much tell you now that it will never be supported. I also happen to work for a French company which has choosen English as its business language. So languages are important but not the end of the world.

They should've just renamed Project Natal to Project Smoke & Mirrors. There has been nothing but lies and big fails surrounding this "amazing, innovative piece of tech"... LOL...

-About the PS2. From Kutaragi to Newsweek, March 2000

why are you bringing Sony, Kutaragi and the PS2 into a thread about Natal? Oh, because you feel you have to defend your precious, little, crumbling 360 kingdom, that's why. i don't even care what you have to say, to me, your opinion is totally worthless, and i don't care if that is a mutual feeling.

Crumbling?  LOL, where have you been since E3?  Are you sure you're not the one defending your precious, little, crumbling Playstation kingdom?  I'm sure some people will get angry at those words but at least I'm not saying them in the Sony forum unlike your ignorant comments in here.

As for what you think of my opinions well I basically posted that Kutaragi quote  to see what kind of reaction I would get out of you.  You gave me the reaction I expected and cemented my opinion of you as someone who would never admit that your precious Sony is just as guilty of making some promises that they don't live up to.

Either this is complete mismanagement, or a game of smoke and mirrors.

If the past says anything, I'd go with the latter.

It's already been debunked.  But there certainly have been a lot of smoke and mirrors this gen, esp... in the Sony camp.  Remember when they were talking up the CELL and how this gen wouldn't start till it arrived?  LOL.....

u been on damage control on all this thread get over it, sony have nothing to do with this thread u are trying to dererail it, grow up.

How exactly am I on damage control?  Could you please explain what you mean?

The only thing I have done is set the story strait.  This article stated that there would be no voice control for Kinect at launch and Microsoft denied that.  I just pointed this fact out.

As for the smoke and mirrors bit, it does need to be here when people are claiming thats what MS is doing here with Kinect.  When in fact every gaming company does it to some degree, Sony just took it to another level on the PS3's launch.  That is all.   (Unfortunately this thread was derailed from the start by the website that posted the BS to begin with).

Since you said "people", thought I'd clarify I said it's a possibility that this is a game of smoke and mirrors. And yes, I agree with the underlined, hence my previous comment.

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

I don't think so. You release it worldwide when its ready. Not when you have some language that only 100 people speak that will buy it vs millions who speak English. Get over it.

Ummm, Xbox 360 is a piece of hardware.  Netflix, Last.fm and ESPN were big selling points during the last couple of E3s yet they are only available in the US.

You proved nothing with your point.  Hardware or software, sometimes not every region will get all the features that other regions might.  Besides, the voice control for stuff like movie control still works.  I don't care where you are from you can learn to say "Xbox stop.  Xbox play."

Also, please explain to me why it's better for Microsoft for them to wait?
