Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft denies voice control missing at Kinect launch

They should've just renamed Project Natal to Project Smoke & Mirrors. There has been nothing but lies and big fails surrounding this "amazing, innovative piece of tech"... LOL...

I would like to know the winning lotto numbers and who wins the super bowl next year and by what score.....  Tell me and If its right I will be a believer.

How would I know? There is absolutely no indication for the lotto numbers or next year's super bowl winner - and that's what makes them completely different to the topic we're discussing here.

A high-position Xbox manager (We are talking "Marketing manager for XBox Live EMEA" after all) wouldn't announce that Kinect comes without voice control at launch if he wasn't sure about it. Being sure obviously doesn't necessarily mean he's right, but he must have really believed that Kinect won't have voice control at launch, and I see only one probable explanation for this: That was the last status he heard. So they must have at least considered not having voice control at launch already, and the only plausible explanation for that could be that it's not quite ready yet.

And as a marketing manager is probably one of the first to be told of such a decision, I think it's safe to assume that the decision has been made so recently that he just didn't know yet. That also fits very well with the fact that the Microsoft spokesmen at Gamescon were unable to say when voice control will be ready.

MCV jumped the gun completely on this shit.  Voice control for non-english languages is what will not be available at launch.

Which is simply not acceptable at all... This feature should be ready for every market

It's a global hardware launch so it's to be expected.  Normally companies just delay the hardware for certain regions, at least this way everyone gets to play something.

If it's going to be a global release then yep...especially since it's one of the most taunted features of the product at E3 and such...

oh well we will see how it works out when it comes out, not a huge wait.

Well IMHO it's because it IS a global hardware launch that it should be ready for everyone, we are talking about Microsoft here, not some obscur group of developpers programming during their spare time.

I am guessing most people wouldn't trust marketing managers as far as they can through them.  They are trying to sell a product not tell you what its made out of or whats in it.

The website just broke the story too early without having more than one source and a shaky source at that.  Obviously people who don't know what they are talking about shouldn't be giving the answers.  And this fellow that gave the answers didn't know what he was talking about or he would have at least made it clear what was going on.  The voice recognition thing has been demoed already many times before without any "smoke and mirrors".  So to think they have just now decided on adding it or that they are having tons of issues with it is a bit silly.   The Kinect tour that is going on around the country is proof that it actually works, and it works well.  Voice recognition isn't exactly a new feature, if you have a decent phone thats been made in the last few years it probably has that option.

So, it's been demoed in Germain ? In Spanish ? In French ?... I'm thinking that it will not be available at launch for EMAA languages (except english of course)

I would love to think you actually did care but I seriously doubt you are even considering purchasing a Kinect system even one with 1 million languages. Lets just wait and see how this pans out we do not know which languages are affected. I think it is pretty obvious not all languages will be supported on release. Hopefully Spanish, French and German will be supported. EMEA is big with lots of languages.

Europe

Middle East

Asia

I bet you do not even know the languages that are encompassed by that entire region, pretty sure I do not without looking it up.

why are you bringing Sony, Kutaragi and the PS2 into a thread about Natal? Oh, because you feel you have to defend your precious, little, crumbling 360 kingdom, that's why. i don't even care what you have to say, to me, your opinion is totally worthless, and i don't care if that is a mutual feeling.
