Hmm...buy a second PS3 for offline only...

Might be Ok for actual games, but you can bet that future games (GT5 Anyone ?) will require a new firmware to be played and this firmware will also disable USB Boot...

This is virtually 100% guaranteed.

Although the device doesn't actually work by booting off the USB dongle. Breakdowns of the device show that it only has 32k of memory so it probably only stores a key that activates debug mode.

So yes, the jailbreak is highly unlikely to work with anything later than firmware 3.41, and it should be expected that future games (particularly those high profile games like GT5) will require a firmware update before running.

Online detection of an activated debug mode will likely result in a console or PSN ban of some sort, meaning the jailbreak will only be usable for current games running firmware 3.41 in offline mode.

Around the Network

@Rafael & Onibaka:

Porra com esses preços, eu também vou começar a importar. Valeu mesmo pela dica!

@Nomad Blue:

I won't bother explaining to you the difference between theft and copyright infrigement. I'm sure someday someone will tell you.

Boas...

yeah,what you said. lol

lol, sorry

we're just talking how it pays off to import from uk since in our country it's more expensive to buy games

recurring to piracy is not acceptable, if people cant afford to buy the games they cant afford to buy the systems either, if they bought a system then they should be able to afford a game once in a while.

the people i know who pirate games never even finish them anyway. they have no ownership pride i guess and cant really be called gamers.

i couldn't said it better...
i have a friend (PC gamer, like me(also have a PS3 thats why i am here), but he pirates on PC) and he rarely finish any game and i always discuss this issue with him... importing is my biggest chance to move him to the RIGHT side...
besides... i can never play on-line with that dumb ass head even if we have the same games installed in our systems!

The problem with people who never pay for games is that they've never had to factor software costs into their entertainment budgets. So unless they find themselves in a position where their earning power has suddenly increased significantly or they find themselves with a greater amount of disposable income, they're not likely to start "throwing away money" on something they previously enjoyed for free, stolen/pirated or otherwise.

The number of people who suddenly grow a conscience and decide it's their "duty" to support the gaming industry or decide that the limited to non-existent risk of pirating copyrighted materials is suddenly too great to outweigh the benefits of free entertainment is probably a lot smaller than even the most cynical person could imagine.

I would be inclined to believe that there will always be a niche of individuals who won't even bother with a closed gaming platform until it's been "hacked" and they can obtain games illicitly for little (bootlegs) or nothing.
