Forums - Gaming - Hallo Reach will not be supporting 3D

Bungie has destroyed a rumour swirling around German expo gamescom that upcoming Xbox 360 exclusive Halo: Reach is playable in 3D.

Earlier today website VG247 reported: "Microsoft and Bungie are showing off Halo Reach at gamescom, in 3D."

The report sparked speculation that Halo: Reach will be launched with 3D support on the Xbox 360.

This is not the case, Bungie confirmed to Eurogamer.

"It's actually got nothing to do with us," Bungie's Brian Jarrard told Eurogamer. "It's a Toshiba TV demo in the booth. It's actually for their TV hardware. It's got nothing to do with Xbox or the game itself.

"I heard the same thing and I was shocked. Apparently there's a sign that says 'Experience Reach in 3D.' I was like, 'Wait... There is? What?'

"Apparently it's just an off the shelf TV set that supports 3D with glasses and they're running a Reach trailer for people. So there you go.

"It's just video playback with 3D glasses to emulate this TV's ability to upscale to 3D. It's a little misleading.

"It terrified us when we heard about it. We don't have any control over it.

"That's all it is. It's just a little bit of a grab your attention marketing tactic.

"I can assure you there is no 3D-enabled build. We don't have any specific support for anything like that in our game."

So there you have it. Nothing to see here.

I am pretty sure everyone who read the topic title was not surprised about this news, neither was I.

The reason why i posted this Article on the "Gaming Discussion" board and not in the Microsoft section is, because i think this is not really important news for the game, but a excellent example for how to handle Rumors!

Bungie spoke clear words on this, they said outright it isn't so.

If more devs and publishers would follow that example we would have a lot less pointless discussions.

...on the other hand, if they don't talk that way, we can now be SURE they have something to hide

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”
