Forums - General - Why are Japanese developers not more like EA and Activision?

And just release games on everything? Like SquareEnix releasing two different Kingdom hearts games, one on the DS and one on the PSp. If your a fan of the franchise, do they expect you to buy every system and console? Miltiplatform games will also maximize their profits. I think exclusive games should be kept to first and second party games. Then we wont have to hear about Konami worrying about MSS4 making a profit or FFXIII being held back until Sony gets enough marketshare.  Dont they want maximum profits like these American publishers???

If every game was released on every system then there would be no need for multiple systems.

A couple exclusives for each wouldn't be enough to justify each purchase.

I for one am really glad that Japanese developers are not like Activision and EA.

Well, if you release a game on one console then you can maximize the game for that one console. The kingdom hearts for the DS will likely make good use of the touch screen functions, while the PSP version will make use of the capabilities of the hardware. If these games were merely ports we'd see a restricted version of both.

Exclusives are not always a good thing, but I like them because developers have the freedom to work the maximum they can rather than worrying about limitations presented by the many platforms theyre working on.

america is all about money and making money so the more platforms they release on the more profit, but japan dosnt seem to be all about money they seem to be more loyal to there platforms and dont easliy change there minds about game on certain platforms ie mgs4 and FF

I dislike multiplatform games.

Developers wind up spending far too much time just "getting it to work" on each system comparably to the others.

I'd much rather developers put all that time and effort into making each title amazing for the system it's on rather than making a crappy game for multiple systems.

This is an old topic though; I'll try and dig up the one from last week.

Because they aren't lazy.

"Why isn't samus in a mario kart game?"

its better like this with companies making exclusives, because there is more competition and we dont want monopoly

He has a 360.. that is why. He wants ps3 to burn. EA is making very bad ports.

On topic:

MGS sold very bad on the xbox

FF XI sold very bad on the xbox 360.
