Forums - General - So is Sophmore year tough?

Is your schedule block (like 4 full courses a semester) or normal (all at once over the year)? All APs seem to much for all year. The PSAT isn't hard except the math, which requires Algebra 2. History will be a breeze. English 2 won't be too difficult, but you'll read some Shakespeare. PE, is well PE. There's lots of equations in Chemistry so pay attention!I've never took Java. Spanish 4 AP.....you might want to start going to a Spanish club for that. Sophmore year really isn't too hard, just very time consuming.

Truthfully, it depends how smart you are and more importantly how hard you work, believe in yourself brother!

Algebra 2 is extremely easy. If you got B's in Geometry, then you should be an Algebraic thinker, and math should be fine until the end of High School.

English is english. Nothing new here....

I haven't had AP Spanish. Good job getting foreign language out of the way early. I hate it.

I had Honors World History. If you are okay with lots of work, you should be fine.

Chemistry is terrible. I took AP and barely survived, but if you're not doing that, you should be fine.

Java/Coding sounds like a cool class. I wish my school offered that.

PE is PE. Try and an A is "earned."

Smart to challenge yourself. Got challenging classes and not overdoing it. You'll go places.

I had trouble with the PSAT, but that's because I'm not the smartest. It's just practice, so don't stress it too much.

My sophomore year is going to be comprised of Honors Pre-Cal, Honors History, Honors Chem, Honors Latin II, Honors English II, Honors Italian II/III, and Photo.

For some strange reason I don't want to go back to school.

I forgot to mention that it is great you already have an idea of what to do after high school, it makes it easier to remain focused in school.

What kind of career would you like to pursue?

Hrm... a lot of those sounds more like Junior level courses, which is also in line with your taking the PSATs. I'm not going to say that it's a cakewalk, especially to maintain an A average, but a lot of it comes down to both the school and how much of a knack you have for the subjects. Math and science were easy for me until Physics and AP Calculus, whereas I had to exert myself more for history and English (though that was more because they bored me).

My guess is that you should scale back a bit of gaming for September, to see how you feel with the general workload; come April, if you've not seriously scaled back, you should as to prepare for the AP exams. With that many APs, though, you should easily be able to ramp gaming back up come June.

They teach Italian in your school?

Honestly, I don't even think it's an important enough language. :P

Ah, pretty much exactly as here besides the Italian.

They also have classes for Japanese, Korean and Chinese me thinks. Those are a bit more exclusive, though. You probably have to have some background knowledge...
