Sony, the new terminals with features such as mobile phones and game machines, has been found to be under consideration by the release in Japan this year, including around the world. Tablet (slab) is expected to introduce several new products and types, multi-function mobile phones U.S. Apple "iPhone (iPhone)" or tablet type "iPad (Aipaddo)" to compete.

Wow,  Sony and Google seem to have quite the little affair going on here.   I do believe this is good news

I also read that they might unveil their psphone/psp2 at TGS to take away some of the buzz from 3ds....

Sony Google = win

I think is goes back into what Sir howie was wanting to do. make a more unified software across all their product's. it seem's Sony has decided on Android to be that software for many of their product's.

it does not hurt to have someone there like

Tim Schaaff

Appointed last December as Sony's (SNE) new senior vice-president for software development, Schaaff has control over design, intellectual property, licensing, and product planning and engineering.

he reports directly to Kaz

so it's not unheard of Tim to support open standards

"Schaaff's record of backing industry standards at Apple suggests he'll prod Sony toward a similar position."

of course

That dovetails with Stringer's plans to get Sony to embrace industrywide formats and make its gizmos more compatible with other companies.

Android is a pretty good choice, and since Sir. Howie also, with Bert

Sony Ericsson CEO Bert Nordberg says will focus on Android

http://seinsider.com/?p=2542

Bert who is the Head over at Sony E:

In the past, there was no tie-up between us [Sony Ericsson], the PSP platform and Sony, but you can expect to hear much more about that. Sir Howard Stringer’s [chairman of Sony] presence here is no coincidence.”

and

Sir Howard is also Chairman of the Board of Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications, a 50/50 joint venture of Sony Corporation and Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson. He joined Sony Corporation in May 1997.

what happened to the gamescon reveal? I seem to remember a lot of people saying we would see it there.

I am not sure how successful this is going to be, it seems to me that they will be going up against stiff opposition from both iphone/other android phones and the DS/3DS with the PSPhone, And if they market it as an all in one device like they did with the PSP they will probably end up with the same software issues. And the phone element will probably mean you end up with a very expensive device as in >PSP GO price. Given this I don't think they will make the push for a PSP2 rather just a phone that can play PSP games, that would also explain the recent PSP push and the PSP Go experiment.

hello, they already are! right now it's not going to change how much the opposition is going to challenge any new product, the same could be said about anyone of those product's against any of the other devices also.

as for not sure how successful it's going or not going to be that's going to have to wait until they release the device to the market.

the fact that Sony has sold over 50 million psp's for it's first Handheld game system is nothing to sneeze at, and the PSP is still selling.

yes they already are competing but to directly compete with both is a bad idea. I mean sure the PSP is competing with all portable entertainment now, but it's only really competing directly with the DS. Lots of people are willing to carry around 2 portable devices (few are willing to have more than 2 and most people will only have one) and one of those is probably going to be a phone, so the PSPhone will be directly competing with the iphone for that slot were as the the PSP/DS could occupy  a second slot very few people are willing to carry around two phones. Now as phones are more and more capable as game players fewer and fewer people are willing to carry additional dedicated devices for that purpose, the 3DS tries to get around this with a unique hook which is the 3D (and Nintendo games etc) to make people to carry it in adition to a phone. The PSPhone on the other hand will be an either/or proposition to anyone with another phone as it is a phone it's self.

The PSPhone's main selling point is the fact that it will be able to play PSP games and expect it will be advertised as the gamers phone, but if you look at current phone games which are simple and cheap and future phone games like Rage, deep with high production values you will see that the PSPhone will be a hard sell especially with current pricing models (I expect prices of PSP PSN games especially minis to be dropped in price) but your average iphone game is what $0.99? pretty hard to compete. If you see the phone part as something to sell more games etc I think you will find you are wrong, IMO this is an attempt to keep sony Ericsson phones relevant more than anything else and I think it will fail. Iphone games are getting to good, So IMO trying to beat apple at their own game when your only advantage is buttons and game quality is a bad move in a market dominated by casual and non gamers who's main concern is price and having a fun distraction for 5 mins while on the bus, something the PSP still struggles to provide with it's console light games.

Edit finished my thought

sorry if this is incoherent I had to right it quickly and don't have time to proof read...
