Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft: New 360 had 84% Market Share in UK

Interesting interview with Chris Lewis

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2010-08-18-microsofts-chris-lewis-interview

Most stand out thing was he mentioned

"We've seen huge take-up of the new 250GB SKU - our sales went up 700 per cent week over week, 84 per cent market share in the UK. Some great stats that prove there's an awful lot of pent-up and ongoing demand for 360"

I imagine he was talking about it's first week etc but 84% of market share for that week is pretty crazy!

Meh.. they used to have 100% when Wii and PS3 weren't released yet.. doomed I say! ;)

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

Wow, that's insane

That is pretty ridiculous!

That's misleading.

1. its for launch week

2. it does not prove pent up demand as the greater majority of those are people replacing existing 360s. I'd like to see the yoy increase in unique xbl accounts as compared to sales. I bet its far smaller.

you matbe right

I think it is obvious to even the most die-hard xbox fan that the majority of the 'slim' sales are current users upgrading their consoles as there has been little to no change in software sales which is expected when a lot of new users join a console group, unless none of them are buying games to play on said console? lol

Good point, i actully didnt think of that. and you know PS3 sales have been very strong despite the sales of the 360, which means you could be onto somthing with that. lets hope PS3 will be back with a bang in a few weeks when the new SKUs come in!!
