As much as people like to talk about the Pro-Wii bias on this site, it was apparent that the pro-blow 'em up/shoot 'em up, anti-Wii bias in this list.

Only three Wii games. Did not indicate Spore was for Wii.
Did not include Dragon Quest (which it was trumping adding screen shots for).

Also, we should keep the list and see how many games actually see the light of day this year.

So because it didn't have the games you wanted, it's biased? It's not GS' fault that so many of the biggest games are shooters or that the Wii isn't getting the majority of these big titles. If anything complain about game companies, not the list. They also did not indicate that Spore was on the DS , maybe it's because these are different versions and their anticipated game is the PC one?

No, the list is biased, towards shooter fans. That's pretty much all that's represented here other than the obligatory popular titles. Seriously, where are the RPGs? Haven't we had several threads of discussion on this board about the host of Wii, PS3, and 360 RPGs coming out? Out of them all the only ones they felt worth mentioning were what, Final Fantasy XIII and Fable 2? Where's Crystal Chronicles? Infinite Undiscovery? Tales of Symphonia? Dragon Quest? Hell, I don't even think I saw The Last Remnant (though it's really not that big of a deal). So yes, it's incredibly biased towards shooter fans. No, shooters aren't the only big games coming out.

And then there's just bizarre choices. Ratchet & Clank gets another handheld spinoff announced maybe a month ago and it's already charted higher than Smash Bros, which has been hotly anticipated since before the Wii even launched? Why hell is Resident Evil 5 at the very bottom, a good 20-30 spaces under more shooters I've never heard of?

Yeah, White Knight Story could be on there, too, but there were 48 spots and so those are the games they chose.  Maybe give some of the games you haven't heard of a chance.

White Knight Story, Lost Odyssey, any one of the major Wii RPGs (ToS:KoR, FFCC, Fragile, etc.).  There are plenty of other genres they could have added.  They could stand to sacrifice 1 or 2 of the 25 frickin shooters on the list.  There just isn't enough diversity on it.  Hopefully other websites do a better job of satisfying fans of all genres than this list does.

@Naznatips: Agreed. Just as the differences from one shooter to another in multiplayer will seem small to me because I don't play it as competitively as others, it is likely that for you to think specific changes are big and me to think otherwise.

Same way that minor changes in Virtua Fighter or Soul Calibur might change whole strategies for me, yet for someone less competitive in them, these may seem insignificant and so on with other types of games.

The difference is that while said changes might change the way I play, I would still put them in the minor changes or tweaks category. So in my opinion, those wouldn't constitute 'big' changes.

So agree to disagree I guess :)

Also I know some games are dear to some people, but game discussion shouldn't get personal.

So much typing on the PS3 controller hurt my hands :p

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

I saw at least 5 Wii games. For some reason, they left off Wii Star Wars and Wii Spore.

currently playing: Desktop Tower Defense (PC), Puzzle Quest (DS), Trauma Center New Blood (Wii), Guitar Hero III (Wii), Ghost Squad (Wii), Actraiser (SNES), Donkey Kong County (SNES), The Legend of Zelda (NES), Kirby's Adventure (NES)

will play next: Paper Mario (N64), Golden Axe II (Sega), NiGHTS (Wii)

Well, in their defense, Spore most likely won't be exactly like the PC version, and Star Wars we know won't be the same on the Wii since it's being made by a different developer.  That doesn't mean they shouldn't be accounted for though.

@ckmlb

I was just making an observation or two.
After a while, the shooters all begin to look the same to me.
Maybe because I am old ... I don't know.

But I do know that one or two genres dominated the list.
It is very doubtful that the best games are almost all either shooters or action adventures (as is evidenced by the increasing diversity of the list as it neared the top). In addition, there was not a single sports game on it, and one of those may actually be good 8*>. Finally, at least two titles were not listed as being for Wii but which are -- Spore and Star Wars Unleashed. The later even has a Wii-exclusive dual mode.

Those are my points. Time will tell.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

secret agent clank? i've never even heard of that peice of crap. why is it so high on the list????

I'll answer my own question here: the list is bad and gamepro should feel bad.

I don't see the point of defending Nintendo games, like others have said, if it aint broke don't fix it. But at the same, Nintendo is probably the least innovative company out there in videogames. While I'm sure that's a point many will argue against, they've done things very differently this gen, but they haven't really INNOVATED much of anything. And there's nothing wrong with that. Nintendo has more or less always been fairly conservative. They don't like change, and will only do so if pushed into a corner. That's probably part of their appeal, the fact that they really don't change much over time.

Yeah this list is a joke. MGS4 should be #1.

I'll take the case!!!
