How is this thread not locked? Its such crap.

Going by shipped numbers a lone is ridiculous. I mean the title implies we're talking install base. Yet it shows shipped numbers?

yeah it shows the only accurate sales numbers in existence why on earth would someone use that?

Right, consoles sitting in shops counts as install base? Its just stupid.

But why shops would have more PS3s sitting than 360s? Im not taking any side or saying VGchartz numbers are wrong, im really wandering why since both console sale at a similar rate. Im a sales manager myself (not in the video game business) we only keep more of stuff that sales more. Does Sony ask for bigger minimum order than Microsoft? Does Sony deserve more store than Microsoft?

no it doesn't, the difference between shipped reflects the most accurately the difference between sold, try to keep up theres a reason we keep using the words roughly and about

I'm not even sure what you're implying. But if we are talking install base, you shouldn't be counting shipped. Its just ridiculous.

Maybe MS just hasen't had the opportunity to flood the stores with consoles yet? Lets bear in mind the 360 is selling significantly better than the PS3 at the moment.

Its been only 1 month and half it sells more, like 100-150 K per week. Before that PS3 was selling slightly more. So I dont think it can exply why there a bigger difference between ship and sale from Sony VS microsft. There might be another reason tough. Like numbers of store they deserve. Sony have their own store. Does Microsoft have something like this? Store selling 360s but not PS3?

Think about it really hard and if you still don't get it don't post again

They wouldn't thats the reason the shipped numbers are accurate if your just looking at the difference between the install bases and not the actual install base but he wasn't able to figure that out, I've come to expect very little from his deduction skills and in general

Dont be too quick in making assumption either. We would need to know the number of store each sell to and what is the minimum order for each console. Do you have those informations? Im curious to see if shipped numbers would be closer to reality or not.

Just looked and can't find anything about a minimum number, but VG chartz has the ps3 over shipping 3 quarters in a row and thats just not possible so shipping is still our most accurate data

It makes sense for shipping to be more accurate. After all, shipped console have been purchase by a store. No reason to over purchase them. But still, there could be other factors in cause, so I wouldnt swear by it.

I'll still take the most accurate numbers over ones I know are wrong
