Alright, I'm digging the quieter chip and I believe my mind is made up about case (the Antec one, it really is nice).

So, skimping out on the video card ($230 for a card seems a bit much I may stick with the one I have for now even though it's not great, unless cards make a world of difference in photoshop) and adding RAM this set up will come a few hundred dollars cheaper than the one I listed in the OP (though should I still get the artic 5?  I am assuming I won't need the heat sink I listed in the OP with the less wattage CPU).

Also assuming I can sell my current optical drives and RAM for $100 or so, looking at about $400 for an upgrade.  Not too shabby.

Squilliman: do you think these components you listed would be alright for another 3-4 years or are they bottom of the barrel-ish now?

You mention that your parts cost you $700.  You also mentioned that you already have Windows 7.  I noticed that you wanted the 965 black edition processor.  If you are willing to, I am honestly suggesting you go to www.cyberpowerpc.com.  They currently (and always) have really amazing sales going on.  I just clicked on their main customization thing, and I clicked on the first computer.

After picking a different case, it is $858, with a $10 rebate on the case ($848 total).  $9 will get you anti vibration mounts on the fans, which are nice if you really want quiet ($857 total).

The current processor, as you will notice is the six core 1055T, which is 2.8 GHz I believe, but faster than the 965 black edition that you are interested in.

You get 1 of 2 free games with this system.  The first is STALKER.  If you aren't interested in this game, you can make ~$15 selling it on amazon ($842).  The second game is Dirt 2.  ~$15 more if you don't want and just sell it.

This system, along with basically everything on CyberPowerPC comes with liquid cooling along with fans.

Comes with 4 GB of 1600 memory, which is what I noticed you are interested in.

As for the graphics card, this systems card will blow you away.  It is an ATI Radeon 5770.

With that card, you get yet another free game.  Blacklight: Tango Down.  Can't find it on Amazon, but i'm sure you could sell it for a little on Ebay if you wanted.  At least $5 ($837 total).

With the AMD processor/graphics card combo, you also get the game Stormrise.  This game basically has no resale value, but its still a free game.

System comes with a 1TB (7200 rpms) hard drive, so I guess you can sell your current ones.

Comes with some crappy speakers, take them off for $5 ($832 total).

I'm assuming you don't need a keyboard or mouse, so that's $7 more back ($825 total).

Comes with a flash media writer, which you may or may not need, get rid of that for $3 ($822 total).

Total is $822 for a computer that is way above and beyond the one you will spend $700 on.  That's only $822 extra, plus you could probably sell your 2 hard drives.

Also, if you want to make it cheaper, they sell you Just Cause 2 for $9.99 and you can make ~$20 on amazon selling it, making the total system cost $812.  Free shipping.

Honestly, ever since I discovered this website, I determined people are basically fools to build their own system when this site makes amazingly reliable computers for cheap.

Also, no, I'm not some representative of the site, I'm just bored and really did all of this work just for you.

Money can't buy happiness. Just video games, which make me happy.

You want tripple display? Then go for the HD 5870 like this one:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102893

You'll also have to consider getting 3 good monitors. Each has to have display port installed. Its the best way to move forward with Eyefinity.

Im getting a litle confused about what you want.

The CPU is fine, its very solid and fast.

The motherboard is up to date.

The GTX 460 GPU doesn't support 3 monitors. If you want to game on 3 monitors get the 5870 I linked earlier. If you just want to play on one you can get a 5770 which will drive them all very nicely in 2D and still let you game on the one in 3D.

Still keep the arctic, it will let the CPU cool better. Theres nothing wrong with getting an aftermarket one, just make sure its quiet.

Overall, they are very solid components, they should last 3-4 years so long as you're happy with what the PC can do when you get it.

A different person asked the 3 monitors question, not me ;)

@ballzamon

That site seems alright and yeah a similarly configured system (with HDD) is only like $50 more than doing it myself which isn't that bad.

Only bad thing about that site it seems is that the cases are all too gaudy for me.  I don't like "gaming rig" looks with LEDs and such.  The antec case listed a few posts back seemed great.  So, I'm on the fence.

Then I suggest this card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102898&cm_re=HD_5770-_-14-102-898-_-Product

It'll do both Starcraft and Diablo 3 very well. Also it doesn't give you overkill on the cost or power useage and its very quiet

Thanks man, I pulled the trigger.  Cost a bit, but should last me for a while I hope.  I can make some money back selling my old parts too.  Eventually I wanna get larger hard drives and a bluray drive but that'll be a while from now.

No problems dude.
