I hope so. FF XIII doesn't deserve those sales.
Not spectacular, but I enjoyed DQ IX a lot more.

Keep in mind, that FInal Fantasy XI has made more money than any Squaresoft, Enix or Square Enix Game Ever. If I recall the profit was around 100 million last year. That's with very little investment. And it's been making probably more than that since its release. It simply is not as simple as what you said simple. For one. The engine they built for FFXIII, was crystal tools. Which is also being used in Square Enix Europes (Eidos) Deus Ex 3 game. Final Fantasy Versus XIII, FInal Fantasy XIV and probably other unknown games. So the cost of the engine =/= the cost of FFXIII DQM, Dragon Quest Swords~ Crysis Core, FFX-2 |
wait since when was Deus Ex 3 using Crystal tools? I mean it began development a couple of years before the merger and changing engine would be a lot of unnecessary work. Do you have a link? I can't find anything on it.

I swear I read it somewhere that it used modified crystal tools... either way I am wrong. :P

@thelifatree. no i dont think your wrong. i also heard somewhere that the SE team back in Japan were doing work on the cinematic sequences in Deus Ex. perhaps they used the Crystal Tools engine to improve the visuals etc, i dont know much about that stuff, but something to that extent anyway. apparently the team loved it because some of them had never worked on anything else but FF13, lol.

while the pre-rendered sequences are being done by SE I don't think they would be using Crystal Tools for that. Usually pre rendered CGI is done on render farms and that requires specialist software. But who knows maybe the Crystal Tools engine can be used on render farms if so very impressive scalability lol.
