Regardless, nobody was expecting that kind of an impact from either the pricecut and slim. I was expecting the 360 to outsell the PS3 for a couple weeks at most. Its been 2 months now.

Certainly the Eye can do certain things after all it is a camera with a mic but without the Depth cam, the microphone array and the software it could never do all the things the Kinect system can.  It can have a go but ultimately it will always be an almost did it cam.

The best example of the two is the deflating balloon. The Eyetoy would perceive this as movement whereas the Kinect system would see an object shrinking in the same space.

Kinect as seen by PS3 owners ...if you can pick at it   ...post it ... Did I mention the 360 was black and Shinny? Keeping Sigs obscure since 2007, Passed by the Sig police 5July10.

This article completely ignores the fact that Kinect has an infrared sensor while the PlayStation Eye does not.  That's the prime differentiator between the two technologies, and to pretend as if it simply doesn't exist is downright silly.

Besides, this topic has literally been discussed to death, and we can't really come to any further conclusions on the matter until we see more software designed for Kinect, and thus can see in how many ways it can potentially differentiate itself from the PlayStation Eye.  Until that happens, I can only assume any such topics retreading this old and tired issue are simply being made to try and make Kinect look bad, and that's not something we need.
