SOny's net profits being lower doesn't mean they are making a loss now.what you reported that they are still making a loss and are in trouble was indeed bullshit

( IF they do actually post one on the next report ) and put it someplace to make money & reverse what the PS3 has squandered financially.  They don't want to take that profit and immediately do a price cut unless they are just that desperate ! 

they don't want to take the profit away but they don't want the profit to go away forever either so to protect their assets and brands they need to make a price cut when needed for future profits.

if that was the case sony would be down by now as the loss they were making BEFORE WERE WAY HIGHER

Instead Sony's arrogance was we were #1 before and everybody will just go buy what we make at any price point.. lets hope they learned something for a Next Gen console..

If Iam misinformed Iam not seeing any info on the net.. Are they as of March or April making a few bucks off a console now ? Maybe, but will it offset every expense that brings a net profit down to nothing ?  We'll see

Whats funny is you say they are making money now, but everything i found says they ALMOST Broke 'even' ( MEANING THEY LOST ON 43 MILLION Instead of 36 BILLION THE YEAR BEFORE ! )

there would be major consequences if they lost that amount,it was around $300m last year

they are making money now on every PS3 i said but they made a loss last quarter because of some production chnages which also i said which was in MAY which is in the last quarter reported with the loss

as of the PS3 unit itself,there is a profit

and its so bad that you have to search info and don't follow it.if you were constantly following it then you wouldn't have to look

in the most recent financial quarter.  Almost broken even ( MEANS THE ENTIRE GAME DIVISON) .. SO... The division is close to breaking-even now but PS3 losses still seem large when you consider this division has the cash-cows PS2, PSP and Vaio products housed within it to equal out PS3 LOSSES !!

it isn't 4 weeks old. it was on 29th july when SONY reported the financials.heck i can jst pick the date as i followed it.

I can appreciate that and I do understand this, the only point i was trying to make is I seriously doubt Sony can take this small profit per console and use it immediately for a price cut worth a damn ( as strongly implied by the other gentleman ), without putting them back into the loss per console.  Thats it.
