Forums - Gaming - At what price would HD-only owners pick up a Wii?

I'll pick it up at $150 with WM

I've owned it before, so no hurry. Already beat the best game on the system, Radiant Dawn.

I don't need your console war.

You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

It's very cheap as it is.....for me personally it's about the games, I don't care much for mario and I haven't for at least 7-8 years now...and don't care much for 2d platformers much also...all other genre 'imo' gets better games on the HD twins so nope...next if I buy a console it will be a 360

If Zelda was made to run with ordinary controllers I'd buy a Wii at $149. Also if Kirby and Donky kong was for regular controller that would strengthen my incentive.

But as I understand it Zelda, DKC and Kireby require motion controls? I feel motion controls are sloppy. I want to play classical games with classical controlls.

You could just buy the GCN version of Twilight Princess and play it on your Wii if you want classic controls.  Personally, the improved aiming for distance weapons makes the waggle swordplay (which is slightly annoying, but not really a big issue) worth it imo.  Lack of camera control wasn't really an issue either, EAD has some of the best autocams of any dev.

DKC and Kirby use motion 'shakes' for singular actions, like NSMB or Wario Land.... they're all playable using the Wiimote NES style afaik, which is about as classic as it gets honestly.

I meant the new Zelda but yeah I would like to play TwilitePrinces too.

I can't play with Wiimote. I wanna play like I did with the N64, a controller with a stick.

I guess I have to skip Nintendo this generation then.

Zelda uses the Nunchuck, which has an analog stick on it.  As for DKC and Kirby, why would you want to use a stick?  2D platformers are better with a D-pad anyway.  The Wii Remote held NES style works great.

Well I refuse to use the nunchuck since its motion controls yes?

So can i play Zelda swords and DKC and Kirby with the D-pad alone?

If you get the gamecube version of Zelda twilight princess you can use the gamecube controller.  Kirby and Metroid other M just use the remote so you don't have to use the nunchuck.  DKC however uses the analog stick on the nunchuck for movement while you tap the A button on the wii remote to make your character jump so I think that title will have limited motion controls if any.

Here is a list of games compatible with classic and gamecube controllers the only major titles they forgot to add that support classic controls that I spotted were Xenoblade, Monster Hunter Tri, and Sin and Punishment 2

I have been going back and forth on whether or not to get a Wii recently.  I can deal with the sd visuals I am just not fond of motion controls.  I have tried it on other peoples consoles and I just don't like it.  That's why if I decide to get one most of the games I will buy will support classic or gamecube controllers.  And that would defeat the main selling point of the Wii console.

But I will probably get one when the price drops to the $120-$150 price range.  I however refuse to pay $200 for a system that's only a little more powerful than the gamecube I paid $200 for 8 years ago.

Muramassa Demonblade, Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn, Metroid other M, Xenoblade, Sin and Punishment 2, Smash Brothers Brawl, Arc Rise Fantasia, and Tatsunoko vs Capcom are the titles that I would get.  Also the Last Story and Dragon Quest 10 if they support classic controls.

I already have Zelda Twilight Princess for my gamecube and the new one coming out seems to focus too much on motion controls.

I would pay 60 pounds for a Wii.

I think thats all its worth to be honest. Same with the DS. But i would not pay no more then 60 for one. I probs would go up to 70 for a wii maybe 75 if it had the right games with it

Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!

Killzone 2. its not a fps. it a FIRST PERSON WAR SIMULATOR!!!! ..The true PLAYSTATION 3 launch date and market dominations is SEP 1st

I already own one.  Bought it at launch for $249.  I'd say it's worth about $99 though.  I'm not trying to totally knock it, it has some good games, just ones I play once, then never again.  So, if I didn't own one, I'd probably hold off for the $99 price point.

there will surely be an option

As far as i know, DKC and Kirby control the same as NSMBWii, but Zelda is going to be motion-plus exclusive by necessity.

i know miyamoto said that he wants to make a wii motion game in a hardcore way but he should be giving an option

There's not going to be an option.  Nintendo is set in their ways with motion controls.  Heck, even the DS Zelda games can't be controlled with a normal control scheme.

You couldn't control Zelda SS with a normal controller, the game's being built around 1:1 swordplay.  I mean, I guess they could try to map that to the right analog in some way, but my guess is it'd be pretty disasterous.

YEAH THEY ARE TRYING THAT

BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN THEY CAN'T MAKE it play with controller as you can do everything with them too
