Kingdom Under Fire Developer Releasing First Nintendo DS Game This Winter

Korean developer Blueside is best known for their work on the Kingdom Under Fire series.Shining Legend (no relation to Sega’s Shiningseries) is a change of pace since their first time working with the Nintendo DS.

This is how Blueside describes the story ofShining Legend on the official site.

There was a continent named Naskia, a land that is known to be saved by two goddesses. On it lies a tiny kingdom named Alterrain. Forced by the mighty nation Forceles, the prince of Alterrain, Luchs, was exiled to “The Land of Sand” when he was only fourteen.

 

Five years have passed… Now Luchs is back in his homeland, only to find out that the whole kingdom owes a great debt. The king, Luchs’ father, disappeared and left nothing but a big burden on his son to pay off the money borrowed from merchants.

 

When it seemed like there was no hope left for Luchs, a talking cat named Morgan appeared out of nowhere to lend Luchs a hand and get him back on his feet.

 

Oddly enough, it’s also around this time that they hear the news that the princesses of a neighboring country have broken out of their palace. So begins their journey to find them and get the enormous reward, expecting perhaps a bit of romance at the same time.

 

Leaving behind the five-year-long life of exile, and with his trusty sword, Luchs prepares for his adventure… with his noisy companion cat by his side…

The bit about princesses reminds me of Princess and Knight, a Nintendo DS game announced by Blueside back in 2008. Perhaps, that game evolved into Shining Legend. Blueside’s page has a look at the main characters like Luchs and the archetypical princesses too.

Blueside says Shining Legend is slated for release in winter 2010 in the USA, Japan, and Korea. However, the game has not been announced by any publisher in the States at this time.

MegaTen Team Members Leading Radiant Historia Development

While Radiant Historia has some of theRadiata Stories team such as character artist Hiroshi Koishi, many of the key team members are fresh off Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey.

Mitsuru Hirata, one of the field planners onShin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey, is the director of Radiant Historia. Tatsuya Watanabe, the other Strange Journey field planner, is handling Radiant Historia’s field planning. Kenichi Takamori is anotherStrange Journey staffer. He worked on demon fusing before and is an event planner in Radiant Historia.

This game’s battle planner is Sawao Kato who also worked as a battle planner onPersona 3 and Persona 4. Daisuke Yajima also worked with the Persona series. He was a programmer on Persona 4 and Persona 3 Portable. He’s also doing programming for Radiant Historia.

Atlus main series is Shin Megami Tensei so this shouldn’t be too surprising to see some overlapping, but it will be interesting to see what elements these team members bring to a spiritual successor of Radiata Stories.
