Forums - Sales - whats up with okami's sales.

its old, but even when it was new it didn't sell well because i haven't heard about it until someone told me 3 years after.

I live for the sword, the steel, and the gun...

At first i didn`t really wanted to buy it. But i just bought it a few years later and i loved it. It was one of the best games i bought for 20 euro`s xD Mabye even the best in that price class, it was really fun especially when you get to the second half of the game.

There were many reasons why the PS2 version didn't sell that well:

- It was released near the end of the PS2's life, people were becoming interested in what was then the next gen.  PS3 was being released in the next month

- It was released in Februrary 2007 not long after Zelda TP was released, lots of action/adventure fans might have bought Zelda instead

- Many could have been turned off by the art style and the fact you play as a goddess/wolf

As for the Wii Version:

- Released in June 2008, same time as SSBBrawl.  Probably hurt sales

- A PS2 Port

- Wasn't advertised at all

Lack of marketing mixed with an artstyle geared towards a niche audience.  I didn't know the game existed until they announced a Wii version, though it's now one of my all time favorites.

Honestly, if they had delayed the original ps2 version 10 months and made it a Wii launch title, they could've had a million seller their hands.  Too bad we only realize such things in hindsight.  =(

Because you don't have to shoot things :).

It was one of my favourite games during the PS2 generation but I can understand some did not like it..Especially the first hours...(Long long cutscene) but the game gets better and better :).

Okami is awesome. But it´s true that you have to get used to that much of silly talk that´s going on.

The game is boring and the artstyle won't help either.

Characters that gamers like playing as:

  1. Tough white guy
  2. Kick ass Asian guy
  3. Cool black guy
  4. Hot chick with an attitude
  5. Aliens
  6. Animals with Human characterisitics (like Sonic or Crash bandicoot)
  7. Robots
  8. Flowers
  9. That "L" shaped block from Tetris.
  10. Water
  11. Carpet
  12. Tree Bark
  13. Wolves with the celestial paint brushes
  14. Alan Wake

Everybody knows this.  I don't know how Capcom screwed this up so badly!

^^^^Now, that list was numbered.  What the hell happened?

Just bring it to ps3/360 wii owners tend not to buy 3rd party games."BUT MONSTER HUNTER" well monster hunter fans are rabid and it has a cult following so they'll buy it for any system.
