Forums - Sony - Rumor 320 And160gb PS3s To Hit UK In October At Economical Price!!!

right i see, americans never seem to mention the extra they pay on here, you just assume they only paid $249 or whatever a PS3 costs these days

all states vary and some have none from what i just looked up,online shopping might be nothing too

but its nothing like european vat of course

I might be wrong on this, but I think online stores base themselves in states with no/low sales tax so their prices are lower, but there are still situations where sales tax applies.  Which is a similar situation to people in Europe ordering goods from other countries to avoid paying(or paying lower) VAT/GST/Tax.

the price cut sure would help to clear those 2 million odd PS3's Sony have shipped somewhere but haven't been sold yet.

holding unsold inventory is expensive for retailers afterall

1 Euro = 113.7 yen
1 pound= 136.93 yen

Japanese slim ps3 cost 29,980 yen.
Euro slim ps3 cost 299 euros
UK slim ps3 cost 250 pounds

Japanese ps3 slim revenue in yen 29,980
Euro ps3 slim revenue in yen 33,996
UK ps3 slim revenue in yen 34,250

Additional income over 29,980 in yen
Euro: 3,980
Pound: 4,270

income in respective currency:
Euro: 29 euro
Pound: 31 pound

good explaining prof,i like it

Now, consider VAT, and the numbers are completely different.

I refuse to acknowledge anything that upsets my point. Now what is this Value added tax, and how does it work?

I would also throw into the pot that during the last 12 months the Exchange rate has fluctuated widely from 160 back in August last year to 135 today. The projection is that it will fall furtheer to possibly 130. The point here is that they must consider not only VAT in the European countries but also the countries currency so Sterling, Euro, Kroner, Franc etc etc.

That's why the federal government is studying to change the taxes law, so you pay the sales tax of the purchaser's state, not the sales tax of the seller's state. I'm not sure if it would work, it would be an accounting nightmare to the small internet shops. (I'm talking about USA)

So, it sounds like the PS3 is really overpriced in England, and which adds a little bit to the report saying that england will get a price cut in Oct.

But also, assuming that all of this is true; a price cut coming so late in the year would point to Sony looking to cash in on the holidays sales, and since america is by far the biggest celebrator of x-mas, I would think that the price cut would be for america as well.   So, if this is true, we should be hearing more about the cut by the middle of next month.
