I now it's an oold and tired issue, but I have to wonder how Capcom feels about ditching ps3 for Monster Hunter 3, especially now after these sales.  And I've always wondered how they could've handled ps3>psp integration with MHP3.

I'd say it's an issue of timing and audience more than anything.  Basara 3's coming when PS3's at it height, while Wii's at something of a lowpoint, especially with the Japanese core market.  Additionally, Basara 3's pretty directly benefitting from the Musou base Koei built up on the platform (and sadly neglected on Wii), which is something MH3 really wouldn't have had.  Thirdly, Basara 3's still multiplatform, and designed around Wii spec, meaning it's margins are likely a bit higher than it would if it was ground up PS3.  Had Basara 3 been Wii exclusive, I think it'd still have done pretty decently though, even now... the franchise growth from Basara 2 to Basara 3 is almost identical to that of MH2 to MH3 anyway.

Making Ninety nine nights as X360 exclusive to attract Japanese is a very big failure.

Microsoft owns the IP.  That's why it's exclusive.

Japan needs Wii 2 asap...

Japan is a portable country and the 3ds is coming very soon.

Then Nintendo should make Wii their last home console?

I've been thinking for awhile that eventually Nintendo will need to merge their handheld and console lines.  To be honest, now might be as good a time as any with 3DS, though I still think a PS3-plus spec Wii 2 could do pretty well in the current industry climate.

I'd also say Wii's major problem in attracting Japanese support was DS, which basically took everything in terms of industry support.  What DS didn't attract, PSP largely scooped up, and anything planned for targeting the west went PS360.  Really, really bizarre situation, and kind of miscalculation on the parts of both Nintendo and third parties... Wii could've been so much more than what it is, and we see that in early 3rd party hits like RE4 or DQ Swords...

OK, you're right about the marketing. As for SB3 though, SB3 has online for the PS3 version but no online for the Wii version.

No, they dropped online play entirely.  The Wii and PS3 versions are actually almost identical, though there's small performance/visual differences.  Besides the resolution bump, it's about par with the differences in other multiplatform MT Framework titles (Lost Planet, DMC4, RE5, etc).

No info about hardware yet??? I want to see how PS3 perform this week... maybe over 50k.

And with strong Japan sales PS3 could outsell Wii WW this week.

lol, when did that happen? Weird move.

Online play was only ever announced in a Capcom USA press release.  According to Kobayashi, it was never even planned since the Japanese don't play online, but maybe they'll do it for SB4 if SB3 sells well in the west.  Dumb move imo, online play is what the game would need to really catch on overseas...

Who thinks the sales of SB3 would have been better if it was PS3 exclusive? lol

Another week that the PS3 dominates.

Maybe he means HW. :S

Even then, Wii has been above it in the last few weeks on Media Create (we have the opposite).
