whenever i turn it on the image will take really long to show up on the screen and right after the starting screen the image becomes distorted and half static does any one know what it wrong or how to fix it because i want to get back to playing red dead

Change the connection cable, if it is the same, try it on another TV. Try connection through a different port (if you connect via HDMI, try a SCART or whatever connection, or vice versa) If it does the same then there is a problem and sony should get a look at it.



yeah i did all that it didn't help it used to just happen randomly on the xmb and downloaded games never on disc games but now i cant even start is i hate seeing it freeze up like that



Pink and green pixelated on screen static can indicate a damaged GPU due to overheating.

Random video distortion that can look like moire patterns also fall into the same category.

Unfortunately, there's no fix for a burned GPU; the logic board has to be replaced.

You don't. You have to go through the SCE service department for a repair/refurb.

You could buy a used logic board online or buy a broken PS3 with a dead BD drive or PSU, but that's no guarantee that the board never had a YLoD.



OK dude...don't make the same mistake I did. Sell/Trade in your PS3 and buy a Slim.
