Your added photos are actually confusing as it looks like he was on the wrong side of the border, unless its the opposite fence behind them. :/

the fence isnt the border.  although some parts of the fence, i believe, run along the blue line.  the israeli terrority extends further out, which supported by the comments from peacekeepers that this was israeli territory.

ah, that makes sense. Either way its totally blown out of proportion as it really was just a very costly mistake by probably young and inexperiences soldiers on Lebenon's side. Granted, they would never admit it, but it won't turn into a larger conflict either.

What really baffles me is that they sent a Lt. Col. and a Capt. to go cut down a tree.  That just doesn't make any sort of sense whatsoever.  It's like they wanted that kind of crap to happen.

You do not have the right to never be offended.

I really want to say that Israel is slowly digging themselves a grave. Between Lebanon, Hamas, Syria, etc they  are really wanting to be destroyed. Really they should just give up their land and give it back to the Palestinians.

all you idiots should get your facts straight before talking about my country!

you are seriously going to trust a western article.

want the real story?

isreal installed a camera on the border, but a tree was blocking it, so they came inside lebanon to chop off the tree, hezoballh was their, and they are going to shoot at them, so the army fired some shots, then an isreali tank fired killing 3 civilians, one isreali died, and others got injured.

isreal knew the danger they were going into but they didnt care, they are always provocative and they always want to start a conflict with hezob allah.

isreal are the cat and were the mouse, its not the first time they try to start a conflict, they have thousands of mines our soil, more then 100 civilians have died already because of them.

I don't quite see why a western article should be less credible than an eastern article in general.

But I have to admit the version you posted seems indeed quite plausible to me.

Well, in the end the big question is: On which side was the tree really? That can't be that hard to judge, so we should know very soon.

If the tree was indeed on the lebanese side, the whole incident was Israels fault and Israel illegally invaded Lebanon. If the tree was on the Israeli side, it was the lebanese fault and Israel's reaction was justified.

Referring to people as idiots because the article posted annoys you is silly, please feel free to post another source that contradicts it, but you're not going to convince people by pulling the idiot card right away. And then make a case for why your source is more credible. It just sounds to me like you're saying everything Israel does is in the wrong and I doubt that the reality is any one side is in the wrong or right all the time.

"isreal are the cat and were the mouse"
Are you from Lebanon?

EDIT read the my country bit, so of course you're from Lebanon!

there is no camera and there was no violation of lebanese territory.  there is photographic proof of this, you can see the israelis and the tree in the photographs i showed.  hezbollah was not involved in any way and there have been 0 civilian deaths.  there were three lebanese soldiers that died and 1 journalist.  the lebanese military has admitted they fired first, due to their alleged percieved violations of territory.  which unifil acknowledged there was no violation.

this was a standard operation for the israelis and unifil was notified in advance they were to be operating there.

and yes, i know how the israelis forced hezbollah to sneak across the border and abduct israeli soldiers.  its terrible how israel forces terrorists to do things like that just so they can satisfy their bloodlust.  i also know that during the 2006 war the zionist scum abducted many lebanese children to use their blood for their satanic rituals.

well because in the article they talk to an isreali, and not to an isreali and to a lebanese, also most western articles tend to favor isreal, as the west supports them.

the tree was on the lebanese side, only reason the army shot at them was because hezzab allah were preparing to retaliate, and since it was the army which shot the size of the incident decreased. if hezzab allah shot it would have probably caused a war, but the army shot and know everything is over.

isreal and hezzab allah always provoke each other to cause a war, but most of the times its threw speeches and on tv.

You generally don't figure on Lebanon really having an army, given that the Hezbollah war was against Hezbollah (though Lebanon could have gone straight to Syria and started something, but they're in a precarious position with them, too), and Lebanon didn't really do much.

These border incidents don't help matters. Lebanon should have acted with more restraint, though we know how much respect Israel has for other countries' borders (given their illegal occupation of a chunk of Syria for some time now)

I assume you mean the Golan Heights?

Given Syria's behaviour over the last few decades, the way those lands came into Israeli posession, and the proclivity it's people have towards their (relatively) newfound freedom under the Israeli regime, calling it an illegal occupation is a VERY long bow to draw.

I am hardly someone that could be called Pro-Israel, but that was a pretty crap example.

Stick with half of Jerusulem.
