Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo pulls out of Gamescom

It seems like Sony's the only one that really gives a shit about GamesCom.  Probably because Europe is now their biggest market and debatably strongest development arm.  I actually think they have more development studios in both the UK and Europe overall than any other publishing house.

At least Nintendo still plans to show up.  The same can't be said for TGS.

And I'm glad Sony is doing it...Europe is a very important market for them and they should support it

and I didn't know about Ninty not being at TGS :S is this confirmed?

I think I remember them skipping a show last year too because they have their own media summit. I'm not sure when that is, but some people here are saying september 29th. I thought my post was relevant not because I mention that they have their own summit, but because they skipped a conference last year too but not for lack of content.

They just want their own individual conference.

Nintendo always skips TGS, even though Iwata gave the keynote there a few years back.

Not surprised by this news.

From all the defections and decisions, it appears that Gamescom is going from "THE PLACE" to "NO PLACE."

I wonder if E3 returning to its traditional (wild) ways has had any impact on this.

Mike from Morgantown

It had to. When E3 downsized, all of these other game cons started to swell in size. With E3 slowly but surely returning to its old ways, these other shows have slowly become irrelevant, especially do to their close proximity in timing.

I'm pretty sure the Wii Remote was revealed at TGS.
