Forums - Microsoft - Kinect hate

I thought this was going to be a thread about all the misplaced hate on Kinect.  Instead it appears to be an open invitation to add to the already existing amounts of hate from people outside of Kinect's target audience and focusing on flaws with the user/environment and blaming Kinect.

lol, I thought the same thing when I came in here. I figure its just better to wait for kinect to release for the good news to start coming.

To me it seems like the mainstream media really likes kinect. I have seen nothing but positive news from all the nnormal news sources, which is what the target audience for kinect watch. On the other hand the gaming media does seem to hate it, I am not suprised they do. But in the end its the mainstream that will make or break this so I think Microsoft is doing it just right.

but anything that MS does is praised...the question is whether the original thing talked about is overrated

I don't remember much praised when Vista came out lol

Or any iteration of Internet Explorer in the last 10 years.

yeah but Windows and IE are basically set products that have been around for a while.  What about that flat-top computer thing that MS made so that you could do things like move photos around with your hands?  That got a lot of good press, and there was no way that MS was going to make $$$$ off of a $10,000 dollar peice of equipment that provides 5 minutes of entertainment.  It was supposed to be the newest thing from MS and MS even made several of these for sale but ended up being another project thrown in the trash after the numbers didnt materialize.

Seriously, MS is up there in corporate reputation with Google and Apple as far as success at what they want to accomplish so I'm not surprised at all with the amount of attention that kinect has gotten thus far. But even the preorders numbers posted on this website haven't been that great.  Sure, some store manager in england is seeing some preorders but who else?

My dog got epidermal hyperplasia and hyperkeratosis with deep follicular inflamation and furunculosos because of Kinect, am I not right to hate?

Praising MS on this site is basically treason, you post anything involving them and it's a guaranteed flame war.

So your dog's skin expanded, hardened, enflamed, and received boils thanks to Kinect?  I think you may be using Kinect incorrectly, in that case

WAIT! Why you know this?

But yes I suspect theres something wrong with how I used Kinect. Do you happen to have any suggestion as to how I might use Kinect to avoid these problems or should I just avoid Kinect altogether. I just want your... professional opinion, yeah!

Lets face it, Kintect isnt for core gamers, it never was. so i agree that with us it wont be very successful, however MS know how to advertise, and they certaintly have the reputation and resources to have a successful launch. there are a lot of pre-orders, and it seems to be popular with the media and the casuals.

personally i dont think it matters what kinect acheives this fall, it wont affect sony, it will affect nintendo. so the question is does the wii market want to jump on board?? imo kinect hasnt been well recieved so far, but it dosent matter, the causal fanbase dosent read ign, or vgchartz, their may choose kinect this fall, but will that sales momenetium hold???

I could be wrong, but from what I have seen the people who have demonstrated the most “Hate” towards Kinect are some of the people who were so excited initially. The people who saw Project Natal as being Microsoft’s version of the eye-toy, and as an attempt to appeal to “casual” gamers, haven’t really changed their opinion about Kinect as more information became available. The individuals who expected Kinect to deliver on the promise of the Milo demo and be used heavily in core games seem to be the most angry; and the moral is to never trust what Peter Molyneux claims a product will do until you can see it happening in game a couple of months before release.

...fanboy much?

MS pretty much bought all that praise from magazines/etc and paid all those people to pre-order....yea
