There has been some recent news and threads giving a poor opinion of kinect.  I'm just amazed at the amount of $$$ that MS had to throw into this thing, when it looks like a failure.  Some japanese in a Sony corporate office have to be smiling.

It's not just the R&D that MS spent $$$ on, it's the massive amount of marketing that was done to get kinect the attention that it has received from multiple sources of media, the circus solei, etc.   This looks like a failure at the moment and MS might just want to throw the whole project in the trash.

With the amount of pre-orders MS are receiving i can't really see them throwing it in the trash.

To me it seems like the mainstream media really likes kinect. I have seen nothing but positive news from all the nnormal news sources, which is what the target audience for kinect watch. On the other hand the gaming media does seem to hate it, I am not suprised they do. But in the end its the mainstream that will make or break this so I think Microsoft is doing it just right.

but anything that MS does is praised...the question is whether the original thing talked about is overrated

I thought this was going to be a thread about all the misplaced hate on Kinect.  Instead it appears to be an open invitation to add to the already existing amounts of hate from people outside of Kinect's target audience and focusing on flaws with the user/environment and blaming Kinect.

Or any iteration of Internet Explorer in the last 10 years.

really? for the most part all I ever read is negative things about microsoft. I do not think it is overrated from what I have seen of real pepople using it they almost always laugh and smile. Seems fun to me.
