Forums - Sony - psp needs a friends list

not sure why sony hasn't done this, yeah there is remote play but there is always the chance you can't connect to your ps3. Would this be difficult for sony to do? the psp is basically the same as the ps3s so i'm not seeing the issue with doing this.

I agree with you, PSP does really need it. Plus, PSP 3000 and Go already have built-in microphone, so a lot of o people could talk to others. Sony should push the social stuff a little for the PSP, it would be greatly appreciated.

You ain't lying, brother.  The PSP has tons of wasted potential that Sony doesn't seem to mind neglecting.  I buy a lot of older games and it would be nice to be able to play them online.  If people knew what I was playing, maybe they'd be willing to join me.  I wouldn't even mind if it were displayed on my PS3 (ie: d21lewis playing Hot Shots Tennis on PSP) as long as people could join or send me messages.

This is especially true for multiplayer games.

you can..its called Ad Hoc party! it allows all those local multi games to become online playable..like SF3 and Powerstone for example.

Yeah.  I downloaded that when it first came out (and I've actually managed to play SF Alpha 3 online).  But does it let my friends on my PS3 friends list know that I'm using it or which game I'm playing? I honestly don't know.

*edit* I just noticed the highlighted part.  My point was that, unless you are insanely lucky, the odds of somebody playing some old game online at the same moment that you're looking for them online is pretty slim.  If there was a friends list, somebody might notice that you're playing Syphon Filter Dark Mirror and challenge you/set up a game.  With no friends list, it's pretty much just "search until you find a game".  The good thing about Ad Hoc Party is that you can join a room and look for people--even in games that only support local online.  It just needs better implementation.

That's true, a friend list would be nice... But I think they r saving for the PSP2, would be nice if they put trophies as well :D

I totally agree with you on this, would be really great to do this. I'd be much more willing to play online if i could see my friends playing and join them. I don't have many friends with PSPs, but it would be awesome to just catch up with them.

No doubt the PSP2 will have that functionality trophies.

PSP needs a lot of things. Maybe the PSP2 could fix everything that's missing currently.
