Forums - Microsoft - IGN: Kinect seems like the lame donkey in the race.

DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYmn :S that's a whole new level of OUCH!

Joyride is destroyed...too bad they should have let it be

Kinect will sell well but seriously as gamers you need to ask yourself, is this really worth it with all these issues and conditions? I don't know but for the sake of the fans I hope they iron the issues out by launch

I love how it's the same crowd always in these Kinect threads. I don't know why I bother reading any of them anymore. I can already figure what people are going to say based on their account names.

EDIT: That's IGN UK, not IGN.

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

not good at all.

I will buy the halo reach bundle but kinect, I will wait.

how can nintendo's wii motion control be father ahead than of the move when the move does more and better?

Would a darkened room really impact Kinect? I thought it used active pulses of IR to sense people, not passive reception of visible light.

Maybe there were some confounding sources of IR confusing the system, like how incandescent light bulbs confuse a wiimote. Perhaps multiple Kinects set up in the same area confuse the hell out of each other?

You aren't serious, are you?

"Nintendo is still ahead of the game when it comes to motion sensing, and both Sony and Microsoft still have a long way to go to catch up, but so far Kinect seems like the lame donkey in the race."

It's pretty clear they didn't mean about acurracy.

Sorry for bad English.

Regarding IGN, Malstrom and other IGN detractors are spot on, in my opinion, of IGN being just an advertising website with a few articles here and there aimed at the 12 to 20 year old crowd.

Regarding Kinect, Microsoft ain't making it for us who post in VGChartz and other video game forums. We are the bleeding edge gamers and there ain't enough of us to make Kinect a profitable venture. We are the minority in the truest sense of the word.

The market for Kinect are those who don't play video games, are much more up to date on the voting for American Idol than the recent polls for their US Representative and US Senator, don't know by name who a quarter of their city council members are, wouldn't know who the last 10 US Presidents were, and who pick up People magazine over Time while waiting at the dentist office.

Microsoft is glitzing and glamming it up because they are betting on the overwhelming Kinect buyers to be utterly ignorant of video games in general beyond knowing that Mario is affiliated with Nintendo whom their son or niece played when they were toddlers.

is the truth, I was sceptical about the wii and the only thing that swayed me to buy at launch were the positive reviews and the fact that it wouldn't risk burning down my house like my early model xbox 360's (currently on my 5th so a lot of experience here, the irony, i've had 5 xboxes and own only just over 10 xbox games). I seem to remember massive stock shortages and huge wait lists for those that didn't pre order Wii's, like many new things while there was the odd bit of negative press, overall most reviews were 75% positive. The majority of bad pre lauch console reviews I read were about the PS3 which was the system I wanted most and was already set on buying, due to its price tag and delays it got mad hating if i recall

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

Sounds disappointing.

Kinect needs word of mouth to make it a massive success....I don't think only marketing will do everything, it never does.

And like makingmusic said the idea Wii was hated on from the start needs to die.....E3 2006...go and see every media sites coverage of E3 2006...the only hate that was being given was to PS3, nothing else. Wii launched with TONS of positive press....now years later when gaming journalists don't find the games they want on it they have begun to start "hating" on it. But at launch Wii was met with positive press.
