It's not two hours of cutscenes, guys.

It's "over an hour" of cutscenes strung together by pre-recorded gameplay segments.

There is no quote like that in either the source article, or the links it provides. The words are "two hours".

This is what happens when you read stories after they're fresh: details get left out.

"There's a 'theater mode' that lets you view all of the cutscenes linked together seamlessly as a single movie,. We placed just as much weight on enjoying the story as we did on the action aspects of this game, but it's hard to fully communicate a storyline in a video game with just one playthrough. At the same time, though, it's asking a lot of players to beat the game twice to get it all, so that's where the idea for that mode came from. It lets you make a lot of discoveries, things you missed or dialogue that makes more sense in retrospect. I hope it helps people understand the story better." - Yoshio Sakamoto

- theater-mode movie is about two hours in length
- divided into chapters
- includes pre-recorded gameplay bits, instead of your own gameplay

"I wanted to do that, but we're using our own sample play data instead because that's also a way of giving the player hints -- like, you can beat this particular boss this way too, and so forth." - Yoshio Sakamoto

Explicit reference to "more than an hour" of cutscenes found here. THis is the article that settle the bet between me and Demotruk nearly a month ago.

Well if you take "more than one hour" to be "but less than two hours", but the bet is in two parts, so how could that just settle it?

Settled one condition of the bet. I just haven't collected yet, because I want to be sure that I'm right on that first condition.

Just wanted clarification.

But I still say even over an hour is too much. Metroid is not about cut scenes.

As I said to Soleron:

I am lucky, then, that I do not bet on what things are about or on the spirit of franchises.

Well the bet is about whether I got my money's worth when I buy a game. So this means I'm really not interested unless something shows otherwise.

No, the bet's first conditon is about the amount of cutscenes in Metroid: Other M. It is not about anything else. The second condition is about sales, and not anything else.

I am not concerned with how individuals will react to the game: thati s why I did not make a bet on that front.

I phrased that poorly. I meant the kind of bet for me is if a game is worth my money.
