Gameinformer had plenty of articles on FF13 so I imagine they will (and probably have had) have articles on FF14

But you can't blame Gameinformer for not really having anything about in in the E3 issue as there are a plethora of games that look way way better then FF14

I agree. A few things, this MMO, even if its good, is probably going to be far shitter and certainly much less popular than many of the other admittedly epic MMOs out there.

If square is going to waste millions of dollars on a MMO, and sully a main entry in the fabled jrpg series, then that just pisses me off. Using the name Final Fantasy XIV for this game is an insult to me personally, it's a cash in, trying to popularize their MMO series by playing off a much more popluar series.

Dance with the ones that brought you Sqaure. The people that made you rich and important are the people who enjoyed your JRPGs. Don't expect us to give a shit when you release a godaweful third person shooter, or a Japanese-culture-centric MMO. Atlus is dancing on your grave.

Your an insult to true Final Fantasy fans. How can you declare it basically as shit just because it is a MMO. Did you ever even give XI a chance? or did you just bitch and moan that it had a subscription fee?

I'm not mad that they aren't covering the game. I'm just disappointed at how GameInformer employees handled the situation. I will not be renewing my subscription there. Some of those employees are just assholes.

....and don't get me wrong. I hate Gameinformer too. As an internet "smart" you should have known better than having a subscription there in the first place. With as much information as we are exposed to on these forums, each one of us should know far more about these games already than gameinformer has room to report in its magazine.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

That's just my opinion bro, no offense. I don't know what a "true final fantasy fan" is, but I don't think a "main" Final Fantasy should be a MMO. Please explain your statement.

When I mentioned Atlus, I'm not speaking about sales. I meant they are publishing and releasing the types of games that I wish Square-Enix was still making.

Magazines show random bias and ignore things you think are important.

Welcome to the world of a Nintendo fan. Enjoy your stay.

I didn't declare it was shit.

It bet it's "shitter" than World of Warcraft, because I don't think Square has the resources to match a game like that.

That said, I'm upset because it is a main entry in the Final Fantasy series, and it is not the genre that a main Final Fantasy should be, imo. I'd be just as upset is the aweful Vincent TPS was called "Final Fantasy XIV." Square has been cashing in on Final Fantasy for years. The point is, to most fans, a MMO really isn't a "main" entry in the series. Imagine if XIV was a JRPG and PS3 exclusive, how big that would be.

So what we get is the real Final Fantasy 14(which is called Verses XIII) gets a spinoff name, and a MMO(which Square hopes to promote by pretending its a main entry in the franchise) gets the XIV title. Such a waste off resources and time, imo. They could potentially make the best JRPGs, but they are never going to make the best MMO, and the nature of the genre itself unfortunately lends to very similar games with no significant story(lore and mythos is not a story).

What gave them the bright idea to make an MMO anyway, is what I want to know? What happened to the days of Secret of Mana? They release so few high production value games(and tons off DS stuff, because it's cheap and easier to make money on than a HD games, I assume), and they aren't even the "best" games in their genre anymore either. Maybe if they took that MMO money and put it on a few more games, some might stick to the wall. Though I loved XIII.

..and yes, I played a bit off XI, not enough to give me any real experience of the game, so I can't form a proper opinion outside of the fact that it's a MMO and genre conventions apply.

Then i'll have to agree to disagree with you then. Because I did play XI for over 7 years. and it is one of the best main FFs I have played.

I think that this whole thing is over-reaction. They'll probably cover the game closer to release and all..

Just imagine if they did this to a Halo game. What type of uproar would we see then.

Halo-MMORPG? I doubt many would care.
