How can you declare it basically as shit just because it is a MMO. Did you ever even give XI a chance?

I didn't declare it was shit.
It bet it's "shitter" than World of Warcraft, because I don't think Square has the resources to match a game like that.
That said, I'm upset because it is a main entry in the Final Fantasy series, and it is not the genre that a main Final Fantasy should be, imo. I'd be just as upset is the aweful Vincent TPS was called "Final Fantasy XIV." Square has been cashing in on Final Fantasy for years. The point is, to most fans, a MMO really isn't a "main" entry in the series. Imagine if XIV was a JRPG and PS3 exclusive, how big that would be.
So what we get is the real Final Fantasy 14(which is called Verses XIII) gets a spinoff name, and a MMO(which Square hopes to promote by pretending its a main entry in the franchise) gets the XIV title. Such a waste off resources and time, imo. They could potentially make the best JRPGs, but they are never going to make the best MMO, and the nature of the genre itself unfortunately lends to very similar games with no significant story(lore and mythos is not a story).
What gave them the bright idea to make an MMO anyway, is what I want to know? What happened to the days of Secret of Mana? They release so few high production value games(and tons off DS stuff, because it's cheap and easier to make money on than a HD games, I assume), and they aren't even the "best" games in their genre anymore either. Maybe if they took that MMO money and put it on a few more games, some might stick to the wall. Though I loved XIII.
..and yes, I played a bit off XI, not enough to give me any real experience of the game, so I can't form a proper opinion outside of the fact that it's a MMO and genre conventions apply.
