Its not exactly dry spell for all 3 consoles, for Xbox 360 maybe, cause poor sales of Alan Wake just prove that you need to shoot people in the face in order to sell on the platform, so expect yearly Halo events from non-Bungie studio, and COD/Medal of Honour/Battlefield shooters to continue thrive for the platform and plenty little else. Well, unless you consider dancing and fitness are the little else here.
Sony for example has tried to introduced new genres like MMORPG to consoles, Heavy Rain as revival of Adventure genre, 'create, play, share' games like LBP2, of course there will still be plenty of shooters like Killzone 3 because this is what sells.
Nintendo has done a brave thing with its 3DS in that it not only covers its casual fans with its gyrometer and touchscreen, it also intrude into PSP homeland by showing games like Resident Evil and MGS. We can only hope the engineers at Sony headquarter has some super tricks up their sleeves to survive the next gen battle.
So for Sony fans, we have DC Universe Online and LBP 2 which are new concepts to look forward to, I will jump into the MMO once the rumor of free play by PSN Plus has been confirmed. I've decided my character to be Green Lantern lookalike, hehe.
