Forums - Sales - NDP numbers discredited

I wouldn’t be surprised if the total number of games sold digitally was equal to or greater than physical game copies, but a large portion of those digital downloads would be $1 to $5 games for the iPhone (or similar devices) that people churn through at rapid rates. When you start talking about fully featured games that are in a similar price range to games delivered on disc ($20 to $60) I would be surprised if 25% of the game’s sales were digital downloads.

Seeing as I get 100% of my pc games online now, I can definatly see the 50% being true. Deciding on starcraft 2 right now. Might predownload it tonight.

Impulse who? Exactly!

The second most popular DD service of PC Gaming? From the creators of Galactic Civilizations and Sins of the Solar Empire?

Dosen't stop the fact that games downloaded digitally still can be in the 50 percentile.. i mean if you have a limited library of games and you're second ranked with an inferior product, compared to Steam, you're obviously not going to sell as much.

I get that the dd numbers aren't measured in sales, but much like VGC, and that the number can be off.. but just because some "nobody" says the numbers are off, dosen't make it true.. but also not false.

Just because Impulse is a nobody doesn't mean they'd have less credability than NDP.

It's like saying, Pachter said something but you're nobody so you can't discredit him.

IMO, NDP is at fault firsts for using flimsy facts to back up their claims.

wait, this guy's arguement is that NPD numbers are wrong because he and other companies don't give them the data? umm.. sounds like a pointless article.

Well he does have a point.... maybe.

Maybe not.  Since Steam is the number one DD platform and being a privately owned company don't have to release sales numbers.

Maybe they will realize the all numbers are basically estimates and start to accept VGC.

Nintendo still doomed?
Feel free to add me on 3DS or Switch! (PM me if you do ^-^)
Nintendo ID: Mako91                  3DS code: 4167-4543-6089

Well if you count copies of games sold, i'm sure anyone who bought a steam superpack with 50 useless games and 5 new games will agree that DD is probably selling a lot of copies...

now, speaking of $$, sure, it's likely still far behind

Like buying the all-Ubi-games-pack that cost $80 but only play 2 of them?
