For some reason I always thought Third Strike didn't feel very Steet-Fighter'ish. It was probably the parry'ing system and lack of classic characters that kinda killed it for me.

The only reason it wasn't very well received and probably why you didn't like it...is because its not beginner freindly.

Parasitics reasons are why I dislike SFIII also, the abandoning of almost every single character was major fail move imo, I wasn't a fan of parrying either, I like the Focus system of SFIV a lot better.

Also I am in the UK and over here the only places to play it were Dreamcast (which no one owned) and original Xbox (which no one owned), arcades are dead here.

I can see someone not appreciating them dropping majority of the cast as they only Ryu, Ken, Chun li and Akuma from the original roster in 3rd strike. I for one played SF2 and SF2 T on the Snes, the SF2 Championship and SSF2 on genesis, then SFA1 and SFA2 on Saturn. I was getting tired of the same strategies and characters hence SF3 felt like a breath of fresh air.

I loved parrying as it was a milisecond decision move. Another option you can use if you think you got the other guy figured out... Focus attack is cool but it has to be applied as a special move and it ads to the slowness of the SF4 series...Thats my main gripe with SF4, its very slow and full of these showey cinematic super moves which totally kill the gameplay tempo. Otherwise its a perfect mash up of SF 2 and 3 at the core.

I believe SF3 was available on PS2 as well...it just wasnt online.

They actually threw Ken and Ryu in at the last minute. SF3 was supposed to have no returning characters. They wanted to get players to actually try new characters. While I like SF4, it was disappointed that all the characters are stuck in place because Capcom fears making changes. I mean Sakura is in her 20s still wearing he school uniform in SF4 and frankly that doesn't make any sense.

Correct.  It's part of the first Street Fighter Anniversary Collection that features the first Street Fighter movie and Hyper Street Fighter II.  I got it.

Apparently it never came out in Europe on PS2. But it came out in Europe on Xbox. However no one in Europe had an Xbox...

Complicated...

3S is definately for advanced players and it takes a great deal of work to truly get good at it. I bought my copy of 3S back in 2003 when the Anniversary Collection came out and it has been my main stay ever since. Everytime I play that game I still feel like my skills are growing, which is rare in a 2-d fighting game.

Totally.

I would think I'm awesome but then some asian kid kicks my ass in the arcade, with Oro... and brings me back to "I suck" level.  :)

I don't know... I have street fighter 2 on snes, on Xbox live too... I have 2 copies of Street Fighter 3 on original Xbox and I'm going to get Super Street Fighter 4 (no point in getting regular Street Fighter 4) .... too much Street Fighter -_- but I guess I'll get it when it's in the bargain ben if it has more features?

All gaming systems, consoles/PC, have thier perks... why fight over preferences? I like Coke and you like Pepsi, that's it, let's not fight over which toy we like best cause that's what they are. Is someone's preference in a toy important or is the relationship between you and your neighbor more important? Answer is obvious, but THE most important thing is your relationship with God almighty. God Bless you in Jesus's name.

I can communicate without talking... I can send a loved one money without actually sending money... and I can commit theft without the product disappearing, the point of theft is the point of theft not one of it's possible symptoms which is the product dissappearing. The thief wants to gain something without paying for it, that's the point of theft, the thief doesn't have to care or anybody else has to care if the product dissappears. The product dissappearing is just a possible symptom of theft. Gifts are sacrfices, in order to give a gift, it has to be a genuine sacrfice/gift, meaning a copy of the game isn't still in your PC. Piracy is theft and/or being a culprit of theft.

I don't care about online in a Fighter or anygame for that matter.... the only thing that matters is great offline play... you'd agree too if you weren't in the big boat of everyone lets play the newest biggest online MP NOW... then a year later everyone another new online MP... and everyone jumps on... and then 5 years later... you think back and wonder hmm I wanna play that old online MP... you go and check and its a ghost town.

Me on the other hand... I'm still playing my favorite games offline... offline MP that it. =] as long as I can play games offline... single player or MP I'm happy.... because that gives a game unlimited replay value... I can even system link if available and can have 4 vs 4... even 8 vs 8 offline MP matches with my friends and family even if the over-rated Online MP community is dead.

Hope you learned a lesson because Offline MP is truly what we should value.

I wonder if they are going to make any changes, it'd be nice to not have to run away from Yun or watch for Chun's d. fwd all the time.
