Forums - Sony - LBP 2 suicide launch

Anyone else foresee LBP 2 getting crushed this november? Sony picked the worst timing to release this game.

Grand Tursimo 5 - November 2nd

Call of Duty Black Ops - November 9th

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood - November 16th

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit - November 16th

LBP2 - November 16th.... not good.

its been confirmed today that GT5 has a weather system, track editor and go karts! seriously i think this is going to be the best selling in the series even beating GT3 sales of 14 million plus!

From your list I'm only interested in 2 releases: GT and LBP. I say that LBP is in a completely different genre to the shooters and they should probably fear the game eating THEIR sales :)

Should move it to October release seriously COD as a competition ain't good for new IP's........

Different genre doesn'e me it can't take sales away from competition. some might only have money to buy 1 game that month. And those game set for november have heavy fanbases

I think it'll be okay.  It's counter programming.  Sony are banking on core LBP players not being big on CoD, etc. and I suspect they're right.

Certainly out of the listed titles the only one I'm sure to buy is LBP2 as I far prefer it to CoD, etc.

LBP I think has a strong user base who aren't spending hours playing CoD but instead spend hours building stuff in LBP.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Um. You see LBP2 getting crushed by a Need For Speed game? X_x

I'm not seeing that happening unless you're counting cross platform sales. LBP has proven the series does have legs though.

It's definitely not as high on the radar yet but I'm sure the hype is going to come soon enough.

So you're saying Need for speed doesn't have a strong fanbase? The 5th best selling fanchise.Even assassin's creed, same day why ignore it? Not saying LBP 2 will do bad but they chose the worst month. Would be a better launch in October/January

I think it could hurt it. Especially if the game isn't quite up to expectations.

Though Sales Wise, The first one sold worse than AC, COD, and GT, and the so, I think there is a very good chance the sales could be hurt. however, it is released around the holidays, and it is a much more family oriented game than the others.

I don't plan on picking any of those up besides Gran Turismo, and maybe LBP if it gets raves, if it's extremely like the first one I'll rent it as I did Mario Galaxy 2 instead of buy.

really, maybe they shoulda tried to start selling it in october.

it's not releasing resonance of fate a week after FFXIII level of bad idea of marketing though.

I can kind of see it getting lost in the shuffle, but since it's a sequel I think it'll do fine anyway. People who really enjoyed the first one will probably buy it anyway, maybe not right away, but eventually.

LBP 2 will have huge legs. It doesn't matter if first month isn't good. LTD will be important and I predict at least 3 million copies.

playing right now: Xenoblade Chronicles

Hype-o-meter, from least to most hyped:  the Last Story, Twisted Metal, Mass Effect 3, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Playstation ViTA

bet with Mordred11 that Rage will look better on Xbox 360.

You do remember what happened last December because of CoD? Heavy Rain and GoW3 and MnR and AW and RDR got delayed to launch in more calm waters (March). Which led to a big fat mess. I'm happier with the clogged Xmas because it's the time of the year when people will be willing to spend a bit more.

Also LBP legs means the game will continue selling in 2011 and beyond (unlike AC or NFS).
