Maybe it was just me but I watched Avatar in 3D three times. Three times, let it be known. Not a single one of those times did I think "wow this is mindblowing" except for the very end when the major runs out of the burning ship in the mech. That was the extent of the "wow" factor in Avatar, toehr than that, I felt extremely ripped off.

you're not the only one, I actually liked more the 2D version, it was so colorful it looked great. With the glasses it lost that and I had a bit of headache. Reading the subtitles in 3d (not all of us speak english perfectly) was a pain in the ass.

ur both crazy. I felt more included into the actual scenery and the object felt more real. I could clearly tell they were swimming or walking around real objects.

Also, vlad, if you felt underimpressed, why the hell did you pay it 3 times?

When 3D is part of the actual filming process, it looks great and is worth the couple bucks. When its an already crappy movie or obviuosly tacked on in the end, then meh, skip it or skip the movie entirely. Whichever is best for that scenario.

Once with my friends, then I had to take my brother, and then my girlfriend. None listened to reason when I told them that Avatar is actually a very, extremely mediocre movie.

Also I am fairly sure I am not crazy at all but you must have not seen a lot of the world if you were impressed by what you saw in Avatar. As I said, there was just one impressive scene and it lasted all of 10 seconds, and maybe less.

The movie was a great movie and we simply have different tastes. But, your's are obviously not along the more common as the movie did so immensly well and very few people disliked it or would call it 'mediocre'. Was it an underlying common theme, sure, was it an entirely different imagry and presentation that was really interesting, definitely. Did it have some corny points, ummm 'unobtainium'? yes, corny. But it was not mediocre.

It was a shit movie with expensive as hell visuals, in fact most people I know and who saw it with me would also call it mediocre. If anything people jsut went to see it just to see what all the hubub was all about than to actually see a good movie. Also presentation is great in a movie but it does not make a crappy movie good, that's why just about every great movie doesn't have any of these flashy visuals.

Thankfully as seen above, this 3D fad may be coming to a close and I can't wait for it to happen sooner.

You can't use your group of friends to argue your point. After all they are your friends and more than likely share your common tastes in stuff. All my friends loved the movie and agree the 3D was the way to go.

The movie was interesting and entertianing. Like I said, underlying common plot, but not a bad one and the way it was expressed was simply 'wow'.

This is the most retarded article in history. So I guess the entire gaming market is going downhill because nothing has sold as much as Modern Warfare 2 yet opening week. That's basically the logic behind the first part of the article. I didn't read the rest because the first bit was so stupid.

I still don't think 3D will become mainstream until it is glasses free and have always had that view so this is not surprising.  I just bought an HDTV, I'm not buying a new tv for 6-8 years at least (unless I get super rich somehow) and I don't plan on buying one for a feature that requires me to wear glasses to experience it.

Well I hope it is decreasing, so they bring it on a normal price level, thats just normal

LOL @ Vald saying Avatar is a "shit movie"

You can argue that it wasn't a great movie but I don't think anyone watching Avatar was bored at any point of the movie. 2D or 3D...

The record breakind DVD and bluray sales show that people enjoyed the movie and wanted to see it again.

I bought the Bluray/DVD combo pack for $13 off of Amazon. Great deal for a great movie.
