Forums - Microsoft - Official Price for Kinect is announced

Microsoft will also be selling a new bundle that includes the redesigned Xbox 360 with 4GB of internal flash memory and the Kinect kit for $300 starting on Nov. 4. News of the bundle first broke on Kotaku last month.

that will do well....

I hope MS doesn't believe that people buy the Wii just for Wii Sports and expect that to fly off the shelves..... That's a huge misbelief.

I hadn't realized WiiFit was necessary for multiplayer on the Wii.

Also didn't know that you HAVE to have 2 controllers to enjoy motion control either.

True enough. The makers of the chart probably should have thrown in another Balance Board. Or three if they want to extend the chart to 4 player "full body motion control!"

LOL I wonder how much Your Shape or EA Sports Active would cost, would still be about the same price if they added that(new console,) not like MS has their own fitness software bundled in that shit(making it cost a lot more seperately,) lying sacks of shit.

it's different tbh, Kinect can't measure your weight or sense the tilting on the bottom of your feet depending on weight and balance distribution, and you only really just need 1 balance board per family.

From Gaf,

LOL

$300 seems fair. Same price it would cost to buy a Wii and WSR last summer. $150 with a game isn't too bad either.

UK pricing is weird. It's possible to get an xbox cheaper isn't it?

The PR is funny. I hope it's a dig at Sony and not to be taken seriously.

This will definitely do good. But stand-alone Kinect is screwed.

If you have a 360 already, does MS really need you buying Kinect?

This is a masterful move. Buy 360 kinect and save 50 bucks. New customers are key here...

Masterful is a bit far.

Masterful in a sense that you want to profit on hardware... I think both sony and Ms have realized that its completely foolish to lose money on hardware launches.

It's certainly very smart, and MS should make good profits off this, along with bringing in new consumers (not enough though imo, but we'll see).

So i'd say it's smart. Just different interpretations of words lol. I see masterful as Isaac Newton or someone

haha...fair enogh. LEts call it smart...

Ah, just as I expected, there will be a 300$ Arcade/Kinect bundle. That's a really good price, exactly what Microsoft needs to attract the new customers Kinect is targeting at.

The 150$ standalone Kinect still seems a little overpriced to me though. Even though I was never very interested in Kinect, I was still planning to buy the Kinect hardware. But that was when I was sure Kinect would sell for well under $99. So I'll only buy Move and wait for Kinect to drop to $99.

I think that the comparison with Wii and WiiFit is good.  Every week WiiFit sells to 50% of the new Wii sales.  The fitness market is huge for the Wii. Impression after impression of Kinect mentions it will make you sweat.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.
