Forums - Nintendo - Anybody interested in FlingSmash?

With Zelda getting delayed, FlingSmash is going to be the second Nintendo developed title to require the MotionPlus peripheral. I was disappointed the game didn't get more attention at E3, although a new trailer was released, it didn't seem Nintendo was pushing it very hard. I think the game looks like a lot of fun, it has fast paced arcade action, fun visuals, uses MotionPlus, and can be played Co-Op. The last I heard the game was supposed to be released this summer but I don't think it has a firm release date yet.

So what do you all think. Is this a game you are interested in?  What do think of the tennis ball character design. When do you think it will release? Do you think the game has any significant sales potential?

Here is some media for the game.

Around the Network

I had not even heard of it until I saw a video on the Nintendo channel.

It looks interesting ... but a lot depends on the price point. A $30 price point means a must buy. A $50 price point means a wait-and-see.  (And it is listed at both right now, depending upon the retailer).

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

looks interesting, i think they need too push this tbh. Wii motion plus needs more pushing.

I'm interested,it looks very fun

I agree that the price point is important for this game, it just seems like a title that should be $30. Also it will be important for Nintendo to publicize it since it seems so unusal and just reading the box may not make the game seem appealing. So far though Nintendo does not seem that interested in pushing the game with little exposure at the trade shows. But I really based on what looks to be simple yet engaging gameplay along with the fun presentation that if marketed (and priced) correctly this could be a decent hit for Nintendo maybe around the 1 million sales mark.

Has anyone read any hands on impressions of the game so far? I haven't been able to find any. Or better yet has anybody had the opportunity to play the game themself?

Ofcourse, most people aren't. I always here complaints about a lack of new Nintendo franchises and when one is created it goes ignored.

I'm interested in it, but really it looks more like a Wiiware title than a retail one.

But I love quirky titles like this, especially ones using the Wii's controls in innovative ways.    However, unless there's a lot more to this game than what I've seen so far, I can't imagine spending more than $30 for it.   Even that seems hard to justify.   Heck I just picked up Warioland Shake it for $10....

I was interested in it after its reveal last year, but completely forgot about it. I'm going to look for a preview.

Looks appealing and fun, but I think the character design is quite boring.

Not really I am not sure really what it is suppose to be.

I found a couple of hands on impressions that I thought I would post.

Kotaku

Kotaku was very positive, here is a excert from the article.

FlingSmash's core concept is loads of fun. It's got pick-up-and-play appeal that sucks you in with seemingly simple gameplay that eventually reveals itself to be quite strategic. The WiiMotion Plus support also goes a long way towards adding layers of depth to the game. It's not something you immediately feel, but after a few levels you learn that swinging the remote like a drunken monkey just won't cut it. The technology also pulls off some amazing physics and gravity-based tricks, like adding tangible weight to the portions where Zip is morphed into metal.

Hopefully those will be helpful to people still not sure what the game is about.
