Unless they remodel again i think a $100 price cut is just to much, $199 would be the perfect pricepoint though.

Another remodel? not a great idea to do it so frequent.

I meant more like a technical remodelling, not the shape. Maybe slimming down one or two chips again, or a model with a smaller hard-drive etc. But even then $199 doesn't seem achievable.

Maybe offering a $199 PS3 if you sign up for one year playstation network plus (costing $50 so basically $250)?

Your talking about just different colour and HD size then they are doing it in JAPAN already, they will be replacing the 120gb and 250gb with a new 160gb WHITE PS3 and 320gb BLACK PS3 thats why my hunch is that they will do the same in EU and NA cut the existing 120gb ps3 to $199 to get rid of them.

doubt it

280 or 250 maybe

if that is true then the war would be over in a month...  Average 3D blu-ray capable player cost about $350 USD. Imagine a $199 one and capable of playing PS3 games?  say bye bye to xbox 360!

40gig entry model, with external psu and no wifi, they could get it to $199

40g hard drives are more expensive than 120g drives because more are produced. Do they even make 40 g drives anymore? Having a separate production line for a completely different SKU (case & internals) would probably cost as much as it saves. It's cheaper to use one production line because you need fewer parts and less factory resources. The wifi chip is only a couple of dollars, so not much to save there.

Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.

If this was true (very unlikely), it'd be very hard for me to resist picking up a PS3 solely for GT5.

Arcade slim is rumored to have 4gb HD only so your saying this will cost MS a lot?

So when someone uses Amazone it kills baby seals... and Hip Hop Gamer? Kittens?

Brain cells.

I misread it as "hippogamers" and I was thinking about crocodiles due to association of ideas with "La Danza delle Ore" ballet in Walt Diney's "Fantasia"

Flash memory like the arcade, not a hard drive.

I don't know if a PS3 arcade using flash only is even possible because the PS3 relies disc caching for some games.
