Forums - Sales - Pachter: New 360 Model accounts for 40% of June sales

I apologize if that's what you think. Obviously selling 200k and selling out is good. I didn't choose the way the reporter or Pachter analized the facts, although I would assume that Pachter has access to more in-depth NPD data so I doubt he pulled the number out of thin air. I didn't highlight the article for negative spin. Anybody that reads it can clearly see that Pachter is just being a fool again. It's just here to offer a more in-depth breakdown of overall sales.

Proudest Platinums:
1. Gran Turismo 5
2. Persona 4 Arena
3. Wipeout HD
4. Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2
5. Super Street Fighter 4

LOL... oh dear, oh dear... silly journalist...  !!

The 360S launched on the 15th June.

Now VGC (bang on with june NPD) has the 360 at around 120k at the time of the 360S launch.

So of the 330k sold since the launch 200k were for the 360S... thats actually 61%

Add to that the fact that the 360S is sold out all over the place and you can see that even though this idiot wants to put a negative spin on the launch he fails miserably... good job more intelligent individuals (like me) are there to spot the error of his slightly retarded thought process.

carry on...

1st your comments in this thread sound like your pretty angry or that your in a bad mood

Ok seriously you are far to defensive. At what point did I say sales of the new model were poor? They're perfectly good. All I said was that you made a mathematical error and went into detail explaining why.

Thus is kowenicki.

Well, even using the 60%, it still puts MS in a bad position (not talking about the Slim's sales numbers).  They just better push out that new Arcade model soon, before all of the old SKU's disappear.  Otherwise, there will go about 40% of there sales.

August time isn't holiday or Halo: Reach ... by then hopefully all older skus are whipped up.

?? yes it's that black and white?

They're having shortages (obviously), if they sort those out, for all you know sales could increase 40%.

These percentages mean nothing. If all the slims sold out, it doesn't matter if it's 30% of phats that contribuited, or 90%.

look.. can we just get this very clear for everyone (and you)..

he says it sold 40% of the 452k, obviously an approximation.

thats getting on for 200k

the 360S was on sale from the 16th/17th

so the 360S sold up to 200k in 14 days on tight supply.

whats the problem?  wheres the negative angle there?

lets cut to the chase... would you say thats good or bad?

The thing is, Pachter isnt saying the S sold 40% during its sales period between this and that date, minus the initial sales of previous models combined blah blah blah. He's clearly saying that out of the 470k 360 sold in June, 40% were the S. Which is true? No? Yes?

Or am i missing some vital information to where Pachter is lying with those numbers? Cus i cant see it?

But the fact that the S sold 200k in 14 days, and the sales throught that period puts the S model to 60%, is just a positive spin on it and clearly shows that the S is doing great!

go and read the source article... it says the 360S sold JUST 40%..  lol.  just!... unreal.

Im sorry, i've read the OP, the Wired linked Source and the Wired NPD link, both posted in the OP, but i cant find the "just 40%" ?

All i find is "Microsoft’s redesigned box accounted for 40% of the 451,700 Xbox 360s it sold in June, said Wedbush Morgan Securities analyst Michael Pachter"

I do however see the "but discounted old hardware sold more", which is true.. but false, due to what you've already said.

PS: But i still dont see how anyone is lying or trying to spin things. They're just reporting the numbers as they read, with no side quest to make the sales of the S look any bigger or lesser than what they are. In June it sold 40% of total 360 sales.
