Forums - Gaming - Dutch Microsoft Exec: Sony Doesn't Give a **** About Move

That is weird, while there should be a few groundbreaking titles that utilize only the move, there are also games that incorporate to move, and based on impressions are implemented quite well to the point that some are considering using the move over the dualshock with games like socom 4.  As long as they are correctly implemented and dont feel tacked on to hardcore games, and bring out a few casual titles but avoid shovelware then im not sure where the problem is.

Thread b-b-backfire. :P

I actually think the guy makes some interesting points.

One bit I don't really understand is when he describes Sony's pricedrop when they were low on stock as 'fudding' - I don't really see the connection there. Yes, it was always going to improve their sales versus the 360, but I don't see why he brings up FUD there.

You honestly thought I thought people here would agree with the OP? ... wow.

I don't see how anything has "backfired"

WTF is FUD ?

He is absolutely right. Just not in those words. I think most of the Move sales will be to the current PS3 base. I mean why would you fork out 400-450 for a new PS3 when there is a cheaper similar alternative with pretty much the same games (minus HD). Which is why I think Sony is not heavily investing in marketing costs for the move. Which is not necessarily a bad thing, because if Move is to fail (likely see above) it wouldn't hurt Sony that much. Contrast that to Kinect/Microsoft, where a failure could potentially see Kinect labeled as the biggest investment flop in gaming history.

Its got microsoft in the title of course it back fired;)

I be lieve his reasonng for calling that FUD was all lowering the price did was hurt 360 sales and sony's bottom line, but did not increase ps3 sales as the were essentially selling at max (if they had shortages) That would be my guess.

I like his comments, they seem honest. And just because he is an ex employee of sony does not mean he left disgruntled or on bad terms, it just means he got a new job.

Yeah I understand that, but I would have thought most people would term that as something like reckless/aggressive competitiveness on Sony's part, rather than label it 'fudding'. Meh.

i also get the impression sony are just doing this to compete on the same level with M$, they've shown some nice stuff for it, like socercy, or little big planet 2. and we might get a nice treat in the form of nintendo wii cross platform shovel ware. and personally i dont really care, as long as they continue to support core games more than kiddy shovel-ware i'm happy.
