Forums - Gaming - Dutch Microsoft Exec: Sony Doesn't Give a **** About Move

This guy is picking on Sonys Motion line-up? SERIOUSLY?

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Maybe he should take a step back and look at their own line-up, which is far far worse.

There's some truth to what he's saying. I don't think Sony cares if Move fails (which it will). Meanwhile, if Kinect fails (which it will, I am afraid) it's a huge disaster for Xbox.

An angry ex employee rants about about his previous employer. What a very reliable source about the intentions of Sony. (Eye rolling)

Great stuff... that podcast is really good.. in the interview he is even saying that in the Netherlands more money comes from Xbox Live then from retail games, more is sold trough toy stores and not gamestores.. and that Sony is lacking in preparing the retail stores for Move (1 flyer with release date and 5 titles) while Microsoft is preparing Kinect with training, instore assets etc..

Sony doesn't have the money to do all that like MS can.

And they never adavertise like that anyway. MS goes all out, Sony counts on word of mouth.

what??????????????????????????????

last fall PS3 had a $200MILLION marketing campaign

it makes sense that they'd advertise kinect a lot, it's aimed at casual gamers so that audience doesnt seek information on videogames and hardware, they bump into the products at the stores or see them in tv.

i think sony is trying to make move into the new way to play hardcore games that's why they are patching games that have been released and making future games support move. of course they include party games, everybody loves those but for a console like the PS3 it wouldnt make hardware sales jump cause the people who wanted those kinds of games already have wii. it's more of a plus for ps3 owners and people who already plan on getting one. spending money on big advertizing costs and paying off bieber or hanna montana or whatever wouldnt pay off for sony.

i expect kinect to sell more than move but i dont think kinect sales will interfere with move or move with kinect.

i'll get move somewhere along the future cause it looks awesome and has a great lineup of GOOD games

lmao man MS PR is on a roll lately...not in a good way...

if the current line up and such for Move is when Sony is NOT giving a *&%$^ man I can't wait till they start doing so

meanwhile the current line up for Kinect is when MS is 'serious' right? lol man ain't that a good sign...not

Microsoft talking about FUD, do they need to be reminded of what happened to them with zune, Kin, vista, windows mobile, their tablet, hd-dvd and the list goes on.

I think kinect's sales will be all front-loaded due to massive advertisement, while move has a chance to sell better on the long term

What Sony doesn't give a shit about is Kinect itself. Move is to defend against Nintendo, and has little if anything to do with Microsoft's approach (as Microsoft seems to be taking a halfway smarter route in terms of not trying to directly engage Nintendo, but rather connect with audiences in their own way).

Sony's marketing may have oriented it somewhat against Kinect, but that's merely in an effort to make sure that Kinect doesn't co-op the Nintendo archetype of motion control that Sony's trying to invest in. No point in defending against Nintendo if Nintendo's epoch in motion control is ended. They may want Kinect to fail, but engaging it is entirely a non-priority for them.

Thread b-b-backfire. :P

I actually think the guy makes some interesting points.

One bit I don't really understand is when he describes Sony's pricedrop when they were low on stock as 'fudding' - I don't really see the connection there. Yes, it was always going to improve their sales versus the 360, but I don't see why he brings up FUD there.
