Forums - Gaming - HMV hypes up NMH2 release in Japan by bashing 360/PS3 port of the original

"Forget about what happened with the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions! A new No More Heroes!! More extreme!!! More sexy!!!! It will live again on Wii!!!! The actual text of the listing also mentions the epic failure of the HD remake, saying, "In April, with the release on PS3 and Xbox 360, it came to 'appropriate hardware,' something that fans had wanted. However, the actual game was a bit (?) buggy, and a patch was offered a month after release."

O_O

[Update 7/17: HMV has removed the above text from the page. In its place: "We apologize for the inappropriate statement that was on this page." Looks like this was HMV text rather than MMV text.]

I am playing Black Ops on Wii.

Rare indeed that you see fanboyism reach that high.

I just started playing the HD port Heroes Paradise (PS3 version specifically since I don't have a NTSC-J 360) yesterday. Went through the first three bosses. Honestly, I much much preferred the Wii version to the port.

The load times are a joke compared to the Wii version. No More Heroes also plays like shit on a controller compared to a Wiimote Nunchuk combo. Maybe it's just me but playing the Wii version on Mild (in some instances, playing with the WM Nunchuk on Bitter is easier IMO) with the Wiimote Nunchuk is easier than playing on Sweet with the gamepad controls. I hate these controls. I don't know how you can mess up gamepad controls with No More Heroes considering how simplistic the game mechanics are. But Feel managed to mess them up.

And while the game is in higher-res, the graphics don't really look all that better. In fact I prefer the Wii version's graphics to this revamped version's graphics. With some exceptions. For eg. In the Wii version, the thugs in Shinobu's stage have really blocky, shitty looking abs. But in the HD port, they have well detailed abs.

Also it sucks that you have to beat the game once in order to get Very Sweet mode. I've already put in like 30 hours of NMH on the Wii. Why not reward us with the bikini-clad goods upfront? Isn't Very Sweet mode one of the big selling points of this port in the first place?

I don't regret importing Heroes Paradise because I like NMH a lot and it's one of those games that I don't mind replaying multiple times (though like I said, it would be nice to jump straight to Very Sweet for those of us who already played the game on the Wii). Especially when trophies/achievements are involved. But if you have a Wii, you absolutely must play the Wii version. Faster load times, better controls, more immersive controls and North Americans don't need to import a NTSC-J console for full blood and gore. If my introduction to NMH was through the PS3/360 version, my impression wouldn't be as positive. It's still fun. But Feel could have done a much better job with this port. Even without the waggle. I was really hyped to play NMH again for the trophies. But I've felt let down by the clunky controls, loading times, etc.
