Forums - Sony - Killzone 3 Will Be Completely Streamed No Loading Screens!!

NO LOADING SCREENS; FIRST UNCHATED, THEN GOD OF WAR 3 AND NOW KILLZONE 3
My my, how far we've come in terms of technology these days, even on consoles. Loading screens used to be standard in every game, with waiting 10-30 seconds to play ten more minutes before another loading screen was expected.

This generation changed that. From Call of Duty's four to six second load for online levels to Uncharted's cutscenes where the level is loaded in disguise, we've seen amazing stuff and now come to expect it.

Following the footsteps of its console exclusive brothers, Killzone 3 will not have those dreaded loading screens. And I could not have thought it would better for another game than this one (perhaps Modnation Racers can get some help too). Loading screens lasted 20-30 seconds in Killzone 2, even longer for multiplayer games. The cool 3D screens did distract us for a bit but often we sat there waiting for a turn to take on the Helghan.

Herman Hulst, the managing director at Sony's first party studio, Guerilla Games, has confirmed that Killzone 3 has come a long way technologically and an example of that is the omission of loading screens.

"We're excited what the PS3 can do for us and what we can do for it... (speaking of loading screens), literally everything is streamed now".

This can only be good news as we can expect a more story driven game from cutscenes and the ability to always keep being in the action.
Awesome
I like this part "we can expect a more story driven game from cutscenes"

Hehe, indeed.

This is good news, and it's pretty impressive considering the game will be on a blu-ray!

With that said, I remembered BioWare saying before something about ME2 not having any loading screens, yet the game was full of them (worse than the first one). Guerilla better not be lying!

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

Watch my insane gameplay videos on my YouTube page!

Wow, that's impressive, especially for a FPS. They tend to have amazing visuals, so having all that loaded up without having a loading screen is insane, especially with KZ3's graphics.

good news to hear, Killzone 3 is gonna rock!!!

I don't mind waiting a couple of seconds. I mind not being able to play split-screen/co-op tho.

First Uncharted 2 then God of War 3 ?

My experience of this went back to the PS2 days with Jak and Daxter and the PS2 GoWs.

They are loading the next level/area in the background as you play/watch cinematics....thats the trick of it.

KZ2 online loading was worse than Modnation racers for me (maybe my disk was shitty) so this is good news.

I really like this principle, what uncharted 2 or GOW3 did with this is that it never broke the flow of the game. It makes for an incredible pacing imo..
