Funny thing is, that article actually answered the question I asked in a thread one year ago. No one posted in my thread :'( but better late than never!

I have a deep and abiding affection for every character on this list (especially Spider-Man and Captain America) but man I don't think I've watched a cartoon that was much better than Batman: The Animated Series. Which Spider-Man series are you talking about? Not the one from the nineties, surely. |
To be hoenst... as much as I like Batman TAS... I actually liked the later Justice League Unlimited stuff better. Even with just respects to Batman because it let Batman show more of his "mastermind" side.

Well, Superman is the most world reknown and influential, he defined the Super hero, he is the basis for Goku and every other Japanese Superman clone, however though Superman is the most world reknown he is not popular today with the kiddies most call him "Gay" his video games can never translate well because unlike most super heroes Superman is still stuck in the 50's, its why all his games suck, noone wants to save a civilian from a burning building anymore.
Today the most popular would ofcourse have too be Spiderman, Wolverine & Batman, with Spiderman taking first place and Wolverine 2nd, its who i hear the kids talk about the most. Whenever someone see's a video game, cartoon or movie character with claws or healing powers they automaticaly dub that person "Wolverine Wannabe".
Batman may not be "Watchmen" but still many of the themes in Batman are too mature and dark for children compared to Spiderman, Fantastic Four or the X-men movies.

The main influence behind Goku was Superman, his story and upbringing is an exact carbon copy, Alien boy raised by human parents, his entire race of people are obvious refferences to Kryptonians.
Akira Toriyama has admitted Superman played a huge part in the creation of Goku, Superman is like the Elvis of the Superhero genre to deny him as being the main influence behind every super powered being including Marvels is wrong, because it wasn't until the birth of Superman that Marvel created the "Anti-Hero".

but all that stuff was added in Z original dragonball had none of that stuff he was strait up monkey king, from the bo staff to the tail he was the monkey king and had chi powers, only DBZ started to show similarities with superman.

Subject in my court finally, Spider-man is and should be the most popular, he is also better then the other characters...character wise.
Batman, while cool, can't relate to people because of the rich thing. Superman is a bit too super and a far far too shady. Hulk is powerful but I wouldn't call him popular. Cap A just doesn't hold the popularity of all the other outside the US to hold the title at all.
And then Wolverine, Marvel's cash cow, he's in 8 different books a month all with a slightly different personality and the most biggest murderer in the Marvel Universe. It's a shame he's popular because people let his blatant murdering go on.
Hmm, pie.
Batman is the coolest since he doesn't have any super powers and has a bit of a dark side to him.
Superman is the most popular though. Everyone knows who Superman is, cool or not.
