hate to break it to ya, but yes, sci-fi DOES need to keep things in check. Why? Because of SCIENCE, science is nothing but rules and explanations and Nolan did in such a way that it didn't feel like a clumsy, boring infodump like most sci-fi. Very nice in that you insult respectable critics and the public by calling them "bankrupt on imagination", GREAT way to sell your argument.

huh? Do you always come in to a thread with boxing gloves in your first post...
Sci fi movies are based on logic and obviously need explanations. However a sense of discovery is also required. Its what stimulates the viewers mind when it comes to sci fi movies. this discovery can be a discovery of the technology, discovery of the world, or even discovery of the characters.
Inception has very little of that. Its a movie which immedialy categorizes the players involved and the game of the mind with logistics and explanations. Every great science fiction movie approaches the 3rd act with a question... "What does all this mean?". In Inception the whole 3rd act is just a really complicated ticking clock. Its a good movie...just not a great science fiction flick.
Reason why I stated those things in my OP is because I read 3-4 reviews which are saying this is the best sci fi movie of the last 20 years, which to me is a laughable statement...
