Forums - Sony - Jack Trenton:puts failure of PS3 on early shortages and long unavailability

http://www.gamedaily.com/articles/news/jack-tretton-ps3-launch-was-our-biggest-disappointment-in-year-one/18724/

"think the biggest miss for us was the launch, in that we had easily a million consumers in North America alone that wanted to get their hands on a PlayStation 3 ... and we had roughly 200,000 units to take advantage of that demand. ... I think that that was probably the biggest disappointment for the first year," Tretton admitted."

Werent their wide spread shortages of the xbox 360 and Wii also at launch?

hahahaha. I love pr spin. Ummm, no it was a lack of games and its $600 price tag.

They lost alot of sales to the XBOX360 because of that.

What I find funny actually is that they had the shortest lived shortage also. I remember clearly seeing a bunch at best buy the week before Christmas whereas it was quite a few months until the 360 was available.

So those million people that wanted to get their hands on a PS3 at launch no longer wanted it the next week?

He probably wishes that he is having that problem now.
