Forums - Nintendo - Dragon Quest X 'not that far out', says Horii

Summer next year in Japan then. And 2945 in Europe.

Around the Network

That's good to hear, but remember that DQIX was originally scheduled for Japan in 2007

Proper TGS reveal, then?

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Good news. It needs to be out ASAP. Also, i'm still waiting for DQVI!

I'm still thinking holiday 2011, or even pushed to summer 2012. Hopefully we get a better idea at TGS, after DQMBRV is out.

Also, DQVIIr Wii spring 2011.  Gotta believe!

Beings everyone in here loves DQ more than me. (though I still do). Is this being developed by level-5 again. or SE.

And also this is still SE, who like to delay basically everything :D... some things more than others XD

Ah, a new bit of information on Dragon Quest X...sort of. Apparently, the game isn't too far off.

"There is not much I can say at this time about Dragon Quest X. I am sorry. But it's not that far out." - Yuji Horii, father of Dragon Quest

No, Mr. Horii doesn't mean 'far out' as in psychedelic...he's talking about the development of the title in general. I guess a reveal could be coming up sometime soon. Now as to how much time Horii means by his statement, that's up to interpretation.

I think he means news about the game isn't far off.

Also, doesn't the cast of VIII look like they could be a troupe of hippies? That would be "far out".

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

The reporter asked him "What can you tell people who are excited about Dragon Quest X for the Wii? How is it taking shape and how far out is it from release?" so it's porbably release he was talking about. Also DQ VIII's party doesn't look like hippies :P

Their clothes more or less do. Just because they aren't tie-dyed doesn't mean hippies didn't dress like that.

I think we will see a Dragon Quest VII remake for 3DS and a Dragon Quest VIII port for Wii

I think it'll be the reverse... DQVII remake for Wii (proceeding DQX), DQVIII port for 3DS (proceeding DQXI).

Also, Hori's comment aren't exactly encouraging for DQVI DS.  If we don't get that game as promised, there will be hell to pay! >:x
